Lost? Or stuck in Customs?

Post by Resolution »

Wondering if anyone can help me find a package. Was mailed "International Priority" via USPS, from the States. Mailed Oct 24, 2016. (Mailed to my daughter in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion. Wales.). USPS tracking (CX317387410US) says it "departed a transfer airport in Heathrow on Oct 27 at 10:45." No sign of it since. No post cards from Customs saying we owe them fees. USPS opened a case to track it, but haven't found anything. Any help?

It's stuck in customs. USPS is unusual in giving that message when the item comes off the plane (don't think any other country does), the next tracking point will be when customs hand the item to Royal Mail. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for items to be in customs for 2-4 weeks before handing on.

Snaggletooth: Thanks so much for your reply. As we are approaching the 4 week mark...I've found 2 phone numbers for HMRC...0843-504-7177 and 0300-200-3700...would you expect that I might be able to get some update by calling either of these numbers if we haven't heard anything in a week or so?

No, they don't do personal contact about such things. HMRC is also the equivalent of the USA's IRS, most of the numbers you find relate to that work. you should be dealing with USPS as you are their customer.
