international signed for wrong country

hello,the problem is that a package was sent to me (greece) and it was wrongly went to france..when i track it in royal mail's site the status is :A delivery was attempted for your item with reference xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in FRANCE before 08:09 on 21/11/12.

If redelivery or collection is unsuccessful, the item will be returned to the UK

i called customers service and they told me that the item was forwarded to its country destination and is on its way..
what am i supposed to believe?

We wont know, we have the same information as you, it should be directed back to the UK for transport back out again but as I said, we don't really know.

What's the estimated delivery date given when you posted the item. RM don't consider items to be lost until it's been 15 working days, I'm not sure if this timing still applies to international postings.

Can someone tell me what UNDELIVEREDITEM WRONGLY DIRECTED actually means?

The tracking says,

Latest update: Delivery attempted. A delivery was attempted for your item with reference LB216750458GB in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA before 08:26 on 08/07/16.

So what does wrongly directed mean??

There has either been an attempt of delivery or it has wrongly directed what ever that implies. The USPS website is no good for trying to contact them and my customer has tried every which way to blame me for a delay I no control over. Anyway if someone can explain I'd be grateful. Thanks.
