Hi,
My name is Juan.
Last Thursday 30/06/2016 I sent a letter with some pictures inside for my family in a bubble envelope A4 size. Today is 07/07/2016 and the status is still the same:
Date Time Status Track point
01/07/16 AM ON ITS WAY TOBARAJAS SPAIN SPAIN AND CANARY ISLANDS
01/07/16 04:52 ARRIVED (MDN) AT HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
30/06/16 18:41 ON ITS WAY TOHEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC SOUTH MIDLANDS MAIL CENTR
30/06/16 17:47 ITEM COLLECTED SOUTH MIDLANDS MAIL CENTR
30/06/16 09:55 SENT AT POST OFFICE 144 St James Roa NN5 5LQ
I have called to customer services and they told me the letter should be in Spain. How can the letter be in Spain if the status is not yet ARRIVED AT BARAJAS????. They told me to contact post services in Spain which is Correos. I have called them, and obviously the just told me the letter has not arrived to Spain.
Why did I pay 10 pounds for sending something to Spain with tracking and signing service if you are actually not doing that service?. Why it's so difficult for Royal Mail to send a simple letter to Spain?. For god sake I am not sending 4 Kg parcel. This is important to be delivered.
It is not the first time Royal Mail disappoint me. Something as simple as sending a letter to some offices in UK with Special Delivery, 3 months later is still not signed!!!!. Unbelievable !!.
Let's see if at least you can find out what is going on with this item. RN142295856GB

Thanks for the rant. But this site isn't an official Royal Mail site.
We are an unofficial forum for Royal Mail employees and CWU members, and for Customers looking for advice.
However Royal Mail have officially declared that there are delays to Europe at the moment.

Hi TrueBlueTerrier,
Thanks for the information. It is the most helpful information I have received so far, and that can explain any delays. It is a shame that Royal Mail customer service did not let me know anything about these security issues.
On the other hand you should not be offended by my rant unless you work officially for Royal Mail, which I guess it is not the case.
Well done for this forum.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Juan

Isn't too much delay 5 working days just because of security issues for a letter?.

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands,
Portugal, Spain and Sweden
Start date: 24 September 2015 End date: Ongoing
There are further delays at the Channel Tunnel with delays to mail services from France to UK and vice
versa.
I sent another letter by Standard Mail, just 2 1st class stamps on 17th June and arrived on 21st June.
I think this is just Royal Mail service.
Thanks

It is bad that it didn't get there next day as that is what the the company aims for. However, if you can find any other company which will accept an item on Friday and deliver it earlier than the next Tuesday for the price of £1.28, which is what it apparently cost you, then I would recommend you use them as an alternative in future.juankiyo wrote: I sent another letter by Standard Mail, just 2 1st class stamps on 17th June and arrived on 21st June.

Regarding your tracked item, it seems to be stuck in customs in Spain, from what you told us. This problem is beyond Royal Mail's control, or Correos' control.

The company was Royal Mail too, that's why I am surprised. Just a letter, 2 stamps, put it into the postbox and delivered so fast.wannabeek wrote:It is bad that it didn't get there next day as that is what the the company aims for. The only reason I can understand this delay is that I sent like 50 printed pictures and Customs might find them dangerous.
Anyway, I have no options, just fingers crossed and wait.
Thanks for all your answers. At least there are people taking care about these concerns and giving some possible reasons (better than Royal Mail or any other post service, which are just repetitive and a waste of time).
Frustration is always there like in many other things relying in Customer Service and third parties.

Barajas Spain
Hi
My parcel left on the 2nd November from the UK arrived in the canaries on the 4th and now is in Barajas Spain on the 10th November it has a tracking number and was suppose to be here a week ago.
Does anyone know how long it will take from Madrid to get to Palma de Mallorca?
Many Thanks

I am afraid not, Barajas Spain is the Spanish equivalent of HWDC -- basically its probably delayed in Customs undergoing security, legal and safety checks. How long it takes is down to Customs and not the Postal Service, in the UK it can be around 2 - 4 weeks, Spain will be similar.discodoris wrote:Hi
