How could it go so wrong??

Post by dubster72 »

Last Friday I posted a parcel at my local Post Office. It was a Post Office box which has the addressee section on the top & a box underneath for the sender's details i.e. me. The postage & recorded delivery stickers were placed on the top of the box as normal.

Imagine my surprise to find it on my doorstep today!

Somehow both the sorting office in Cricklewood & the delivery person managed to mistake the ' senders ' address for that of the actual addressee.
To compound the error, once I checked on the Royal Mail website, the delivery person has forged my signature!

So now I have a customer who's very unhappy with the delay, I've had to refund the postage to keep him sweet & pay for the postage again. So I'm 3 times out of pocket!

And Royal Mail wonder why their jobs are at risk from privatisation...

I would always advise customers just to put the house number and postcode on the sender's details.
It sounds like a strange one though if it's a proper pre-printed PO box, are you sure there isn't a red sticker anywhere on the box?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

You needn't be three times out of pocket. Submit a p58inland form, you should get the original postage cost back. If they don't give you any more than that, politely but firmly register your unhappiness to Royal Mail customer services on 03457 740 740, you might get more.

it possible a neighbour signed for the parcel and left it on your doorstep?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
