Package sent to Canada from Heathrow lost?

HI! Looking for some help here. A friend of mine in the Uk sent a birthday gift to me on april 08/ 2016 It arrived at Heathrow World Wide DC on April 9th and then it says on its way to Vancouver Canada that same day. It was sent Tracked and signed for and so far nothing has arrived, it shows up tracked to the point of saying on its way to Vancouver and then nothing. On the Canada post tracking site nothing is coming up using the tracking number. Ive spoken with the Canada post customer service and they can't do anything about it as it wasn't scanned into Canada...Hence no tracking, as it should be trackable on my side. My friend in the Uk has also spoken with royal mail and they say its not their fault it hasn't arrived and they can't do anything. Also he wanted to make a claim for it but he doesn't have the receipts any more for the items inside the package which they say he needs. Any ideas???? I know mail can take a while but over a month from the UK, I've never had anything from there take longer than 2 weeks.

It's probably held up in Canadian customs. Your friend should be making a claim by now, but lack of receipts is a problem.

Did the package have the return address on the front?

My friend inquired about making a claim but with no receipts for the items he says he can't claim what he sent. He has the shipping receipt for the package but thats it. Would there not be a scan for it going through customs or waiting to go through customs?

My friend says he can't remember, he just put it where the person in the post office told him to put it.
