Post issues to new developments?

Post by jtalb_ »

Hi all,

Hoping you could shed some light on this issue. Ever since I moved into my apartment 4+ months ago, post has been fine however the last 2 weeks or so, I've found that I've suddenly not received any mail whatsoever, or when I did, it turned up a lot later. For example, I am due to receive 3 letters that were posted on the 25th February as 1st Class, but yet still haven't arrived.

Is this because I am on a new postal route? I don't believe any of my neighbours have had post either.

Thanks!

Is the main door on a timer? Your address might be covered by a postman as lapsing, so they might get there after the tradesman button has stopped working for the day

No, there's no timer on the door. You just have to get an apartment to buzz you in. But the post boxes themselves are separate and are outside the main door, so the postman doesn't even need to enter into the property to deliver mail. I've called the local delivery office but all they've done is log a complaint and said that I will hear back in 72 hours.

Any ideas?

If it's a relatively new development it may just be that it hasn't been assigned a regular postman. If that's so then different posties may be assigned to deliver there. Unfortunately as RM have planned all deliveries at around 80% call rate (meaning they go to 80% of addresses) when this is exceeded the postie cannot complete in their paid time so the manager needs to resource cover.

My best advice is get as many people as you can to complain when mail is delivered a few days late, but do it locally and at the national level as well. As they say the squeaky wheel always get the attention.

Gotcha. I'm hoping that my call to the delivery office got the ball rolling, but we'll have to see later after 3pm. Appreciate the responses - thank you.
