All I am going to say on this is we NEED a strategy from the CWU HQ NOW.

just a guess but having seen quite a lot about the Walsall experiment I recon we will all be on 8:00-30 to 15:48-16:18 with delivery commencing at 10:00 contracts. ( although I recon we will be on less hours but won't get a pay rise. but thats another story for another time.)

indoor work will be at a minimum if RM get their way and pay out for proper sorting machine ( that will put your whole walk inc flats in walk order )

so in at 8:30 bundle up walk ( which wont be set walks, you will do what the computer says for that day ) break, then out at 10:00 for a 5.5 - 6 hr delivery span.

thats how RM want it to happen, if it will in reality is anyone's guess.

Lack of balls moral fibre who knows but any of the above cost savings will not help the workers only the shirkers managers especially as they get the bonuses which are pensionable! So come in before your time run around like a billy goat and still go over your time no wonder the gaffers are pigging out on the biscuits and cream cakes and say to the sensible ones why not do what they do.

i will be taking my break in the middle of my working day not after 11/2 hrs
20min to del point 20 min back 40min break 20 min to del point again and 20min back again to finish del not my fault they shut all local offices
so that will be 2hrs they need to find
they cannot make you work 6hrs without a break and cannot make you split it into 2 parts
going to be fun

Perhaps allowing the members to believe that a 10-6 is on the cards is the CWU strategy?
Makes you look like a hero when you "negotiate" a 9-5 or even 8-4 doesn't it?
I haven't heard anything from royal mail to suggest that a 10-6 is on the cards for the majority of delivery staff.

Hi, a rumour thats gaining momentum up in Scotland is that we are going to get a later starting time.
Currently (at my depot) full timers start at 6.30am and part timers at 8.00am.

The rumour is that the full timers will not start until 10am and work til 6pm!!!!

At what level are the discussions being made? If RM are already at the stage where they are preparing to move machinery and staff at a local level then what hope have the union got of stopping/adjusting their plans nationally?

Top table negotiations.

Its a 5 year plan, although 1 wave is due this year for most offices. So not at local consideration yet.

Sorry TBT i should have been clearer. I was asking who was doing the negotiating at the MC, is it local level or national?

Fully aware of the numerous threads relating to this subject and thought the union were against their plans so i'm surprised to read plans are already ongoing to push ahead at least at one location!

This is something that has been bothering me for quite a while, all the "noise" is coming from this Forum and now from all the CWU briefings that have taken place since before xmas, but I have been informed that this is about to change with the "Moya" roadshow briefing soon to take place
