However this may cease when the New computer package is introduced called Automated Production Control which works on a similar way to RFID but on an individual basis it will be an OPG clocking in clocking out system including certain tasks as well.
So has this been agreed?
When does it start?
Did I miss the vote?

And I thought your area was taking strike action if any attempt was made to one wave. Isn't that still the case?

You did not get a vote on PSP or PDAs ! This is a computer package which is aimed at recording hours and traffic. Obviously the union will attempt to get safeguards but it cannot veto Royal Mail from buying the package.

Yes we will not be agreeing to one wave under any business plan proposals.

The days of RM as a government institution ambling along are gone sadly. There's financial hawks scrutinizing every aspect of the business now.
Spot on Norm!!!
The CWU will have a harder and harder job now.

I predict no pay rise but a reduction in hours.
If it's to be that, then it better not be a 38 hour week (12 minutes a day), it's not worth it, nothing less then 4 hours difference putting us on 35 hour week.

We should get a pay rise of about 3 per cent.

As things stand I can't see them taking away all or our paid breaks.
While there are differences from office to office, generally those on a 20 20 pattern are planned to take 20mins before they leave the office and 20mins while on delivery.
As I see it that second 20mins has to be paid as we are responsible for the security of the mail during that time, effectively still working even if you are sat on a bench eating a pasty.

They could take pay away the first (indoor) 20mins but not the second. If they did they'd have to build in time for people to return to the office and secure the mail before taking the break and then the time to return out to the delivery meaning work would have to be taken off us. Can't see that happening.

That said I fear the day coming that we receive the statutory entitlement of a 20 min rest for a 6hr+ work day and nothing more.
As a good number of people don't bother to take the break I can't see complaints about it being taken away being taken seriously.

Its not a pay rise we need to worry about its what they want for extra pay!
If its longer deliveries or 6pm finish times they can keep their rise! for any amount!
But just by looking on here it will be the same old same old, people seeing the £ signs then complaining about how the job has gone everyday when they could have voted no like i did.
When the deal is put to us unless its a big reduction in the working week/shorter spans i will be voting no or all the complaining we do is for nothing, & i will not be listening to the bug wigs in the cwu telling me what a great deal it is as they told us this last time & people are falling apart.
im not going to listen to people telling me how good a deal will be when they will not be doing it.
Im sure the deal will guarantee full release for all branch reps then they will be telling us all how this deal will is the deal of the century & will cure all the problems in our do's! :Sick
More than ever it needs DELIVERY REPS massively involved in talks & any agreements reached. The cwu is so old fashioned in its ways & does not listen to its members, as a fellow worker said to me today, we are all in trouble as royalmail want to push us out the door by making conditions impossible to replace us with a cheaper workforce & our only chance is a union that is way too cosy with the company the further you go up it, he then went on to say our future is how long we can stick it how it is now & how it will be in the coming months/years.
Dont worry about pay, its like saying would i jump off a cliff for 100 million pounds? What good is loads of money if you are a cripple? Id rather earn less & have a manageable workload that doesnt leave me needing new knees or hips etc, i see some very sorry sights in my DO now, is it worth more money to be in pain at work? If you earn 30 grand for 5 years then your a total wreck you would have been better off earning 20 grand a year for 20 years with a smaller more humain workload. :hmmmm

I think deliveries should get a bigger supplement than other less physically demanding functions in RM as well when you consider the wear and tear on our bodies.

Hatful you seem to think that negotiations at a high level is easy and the solution is to have delivery reps involved ! However let's be honest the complaints on here that walks are too long , bully and harassment is going on , unagreed absorption , acceptance of 100 BSI and more are happening in some of the units where these Delivery Reps work ! If you can change it in your offices than your not going to be a lot of help in national negotiations.

The reality is that where there is a good rep , membership support ,good Branch support and good divisional support your find that those units don't suffer as much from above and if they do they then use the IR framework and then Industrail Action to resolve the issue.

As someone who spends a lot of time negotiating and sometimes bring local reps into the negotiations believe me it is not easy and some local reps do not like the pressure as if things don't go right they become the target rather than management.

And the reality for the rest?
The position appears to be it's their own fault, a very typical "macho" position to take but ultimately suicidal for a union, why would a member continue to shell out money for poor representation at local and branch level and with national officers who seem quite happy to throw them to the wolves?

The union has done nothing to improve accountability across the board and will ultimately pay the price.

Mail centre staff still earn more on average than delivery staff once other allowances and standard breaks are taken into account.
