Please help

I forgot to put the number/building name on an envelope I posted on the 17th December. I didn't track this or put my return address on the envelope. I have been told that it will have gone to Belfast now and have such filled out a P58 form. I don't want compensation how we as Royal Mail so far have been good - it was totally my wrong doing in not checking the address. They said that they check if they have the item (I gave a full description of the contents, date of delivery and post office it was sent from aswell as the address written on the front) in order to send it back. I was just wondering whether people knew how likely it would be for me ever to see the envelope again? I really want to stay positive as I really need it back. I wouldn't have sent it via post had I known the sentimental value of the item. Have any of you guys seen items returned?

You have done all the right things to get your item back. Odds on your item will be returned but it's likely to take a couple of months.
