I've been expecting a package from the states and got this update via Royal Mail tracking:
A delivery was attempted for your item with reference RX535915189DE in NEWTOWNABBEY PDO before 06:50 on 24/12/15.
If the addressee does not collect it or make an arrangement to have it redelivered, it will be returned to the sender in the UK.
I've been home all morning, no delivery has been attempted and no card or notification through the door plus I've never had any package delivered before 9am before.
What is PDO? I've never seen this kind of update before.
Thanks in advance

Re: What does this status update mean?
PDO is the Royal Mail local delivery office.
It might be that the item is incorrectly addressed, or it might be that there is a customs charge and you will get a grey 'fee to pay' card in the post. If you don't hear anything today, I would go down the delivery office when you can (make sure you take proper ID).
Or it could be that the post man attempted delivery yesterday but his PDA failed and he typed the details in manually at the start of his shift today.
One odd thing: that tracking number appears to be for an item originating in Germany, not the USA.

the DE at the end of the tracking number indicates it's from Germany and not the US. However, from previous experience, I think Snaggletooth is correct. Keep a look out for a Grey Card sometime next week.
