Or maybe they are just less self absorbed and don't mind helping their mates out? :hmmmm

I start at the same time as the others as there is work to do when I get there ie collating d2d's, would I be right in the new year to say all I'm doing is prep and deliver?
You sound nice to work with
I will assume you are being facetious with your comment which has pissed me off to be honest so let me explain where I'm coming from, there has been a culture in this company of cutting hours where ever they can and before the 2014 agreement colleagues in my area were called in and told they were having there hours cut. As a trade unionist I don't understand why part timers who in my area just do prep and deliver do more for there manager is unloading vans and sorting working alongside full timers doing the same amount of work for less pay. So it's not as your cheap and offensive remark suggests me not wanting to assist my workmates who I get on with very well it's just that I don't give the employer my labour for nothing but maybe you would.[/quote

You're not giving it for nothing, you're get paid for your hours

You start at the same time as the others, but you don't want to help with sorting or unloading the van? What do you do? Sit there and watch them sort and empty the van? What are you getting paid for?
I work on a job and finish arrangement and it is well established even by my DOM that part timers just prep and deliver so by doing other non contractual work means I'm giving my labour for nothing, can you grasp that?
Job and finish :left:

Yes p/t prep and deliver, but they start later when the mail is sorted and unloaded, and then thrown in for them. So, my question is what do you do while your colleagues unload the van and sort mail seeing as you start at the same time as the f/ters?

Frankly, I'm glad you don't work in our office
1. I don't start later I start the same time as full timers as mentioned in earlier post
2. The mail is therefore not unloaded and sorted by the time I get there
3. The mail is not thrown in for me, I do it

So when the van is Being unloaded and sorted I collate my d2ds and start throwing in the mail, on the lighter days I get back with half hour or more to spare on weds and Thursday I'm either back on time or just over.

if youre not going over your hours, and not "rushing" as youre at the limit to get done then you dont have much room for complaint. If people are doing "job and knock" its no more than a perk being offered and not something you should expect or be entitled to.

Can we all be a little less personal by cutting the abuse out and discuss matters like adults not a DOMs Conference Call.

This is amazing.
If you're working alongside full timers doing a full time job you're not getting paid less than them, you book the overtime.why the hell is this a discussion?

Shame about the abusive remarks, however I met with the area rep and Dom on Friday and it was clearly clarified that part timers prep and deliver only and the Dom said he does not want me to unload the van or sorting, the rep could not understand why I was concerned as he said that has always been the practice in this area. I mentioned about job and finish and it was reiterated that we still work to that arrangement but if there is work to be done if we're back early then we are expected to work to our time, which was my understanding anyway.

I fail to see teebs how we are working outside agreements the area rep couldn't see it either can you advise further.

For the fascists who aimed abuse at me I'm an active left winger in our union and the Labour Party who does nothing for the bosses for no pay that was my angle and not about dodging work at the expense of my workmates, shall we draw a line under this now?

Maybe I should have said for extra pay but if you do work you don't have to then your giving your labour and not selling it

I'm puzzled by your hours?
I always thought that part timers started 1 hour later assuming its on a 39/34 pattern though we have some 20 odd hour staff.
if I start at the same time as f/t then I spend an hour-ish sorting or prepping other duties

if you are actually due in to start at the same time then you'll finish 1 hour earlier than the full timers, are you paired up with someone?
can see the only gripe is that everyone else finishes 1 hour early and you to time

what are your contracted hours and your colleagues?

I'm on a 35 hr contract and my colleagues are 39 hours I used to start 45 mins later but I asked if I could start at the same time as the others and the Dom said yes as there is work to be doing. Most of the full timers are still out before me and some finish before me too, I feel quite lucky working where I do as when I read some of the horror stories on here I wonder if I'm working for the same company.

so you do internal overtime before your shift should start then, you should be doing other stuff then if you're booking it, we have quite a few booking 1 or 2 hours prep time on their duties!
if it bothers you that much, go in on time, or ask if you can be made up to f/t, they're supposed to after 6 months :left:
then you'll benefit from holiday pay and other pro rata supplements.

how big is the d/o?
our area code has 24 walks 10 are f/t and 12 p/t and 2 either lapsed or done by p/t and most if not all covers & reserves are f/t
most always start early and no chance what so ever of been made up to f/t, that was said by our area rep,
if any p/t staff decide to stop coming in early some f/t start even earlier, 2-4 hours extra most mornings
