Item Delivered 200 miles away

Post by danielson00 »

Hi,

This may sound like a complex query, but bear with me.

BT claim to have sent me an £125 gift voucher. Ok, I haven;t received it.

BT then said:

Dear xxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your email.

Your gift card has already been delivered.

Your item with reference KXxxxxxxxx was delivered from our RIPON Delivery Office on 23/09/15 .

You have to contact royal mail and check.

However I live in South London (East Dulwich) , so I assumed BT were at fault, I then tracked the item myself and it said this:

Date Time Status Track point
23/09/15 11:20 DELIVERED23/09/15 RIPON PDO
21/09/15 07:38 AT DELIVERY OFFICE EAST DULWICH PDO
02/09/15 13:58 AT DELIVERY OFFICE EAST DULWICH PDO

So it appear it was at my delivery office but I never received a "whilst you were out card"..

BT are fobbing me off saying to contact Royal Mail, but isn't my contract with BT not Royal Mail?

Any advice where to go from here? BT think it's delivered, they fail to register it was 200 miles away. However why did it go from East Dulwich to Ripon?

Thanks for any advice.

BT have a depot in Northallerton, it's where customers return their routers etc. Quite a common transaction in the Post Office, which is why it sticks in my head. I expect that Ripon is either the local delivery office for BT's Northallerton depot or they have moved the depot a few miles since I stopped working for the PO. The two towns aren't far apart. So yes, the 'while you were out' card has probably gone astray.

BT is the sender, so it's their responsibility to sort it out. I would call them, ask them if they have an office in the Ripon / Northallerton area that sends out the vouchers and work from there.
