An item from Japan arrived at Langley HWDC 8 days ago. I know this because of the Japan Post tracking site. The same number doesn't work with Royal Mail's tracking service at all. The Japan Post website then goes on to mention an attempted delivery (by Royal Mail, surely, since it was at Langley HWDC?) made on the 1st of this month. However, no card was left. Royal Mail always do this so I find that quite strange. So now I'm left in this position where my package is apparently in the care of Royal Mail, or at least was at Langley, yet now it's vanished into thin air despite being a tracked package. I have no card to contact anyone and the postal service that apparently have the package don't recognise the tracking number since it ends in JP and not GB.
I've contacted customer service and also tweeted to RM but I'm not expecting a particularly speedy or comprehensive response, to be honest. I thought I'd ask here as well.

It's probably stuck in customs, until customs release it, there's nothing Royal Mail will be able to do. It's not unusual for things to take a month or more to clear customs. What's the value of the parcel - there might be a customs fee (might be worth asking at your local delivery office in case it's being held there awaiting payment of a customs charge).

Re: Attempted delivery now the package is off the radar
Thanks for taking the time to reply but as I said in the first post and in the title of the thread, they have tried to deliver the package. Japan Post's tracking site says there was an attempted delivery on the 1st. That means it's left customs in Langley and been taken up to Birmingham where I live and has been up here for at least 4 days. It was taken up to my front door on a day when I was definitely in my house (though may have been asleep at the time, possibly) and now it doesn't seem to exist. No missed delivery card, no more tracking updates, no attempt to redeliver to the best of my knowledge (I've been in since then other than briefly going shopping on Sunday), Royal Mail don't recognise the tracking number... I'm not sure what to do other than just wait for a redelivery that might not be coming.
I get a lot of deliveries here and Royal Mail always leave cards if I'm not in to answer the door. If I am in, I always hear them. This is quite strange, not only can I not track the package with Royal Mail at all, I didn't hear them knock even though I was in all day, nor did I receive a card. The only evidence this package ever existed is the tracking info on the Japan Post website.

Looks like Royal Mail's tracking page might have played up when you tried, when the tracking number from the image is tried at: http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It gives:
Date Time Status Track point
01/10/15 07:49 DELIVERY ATTEMPTED01/10/15 KINGS NORTON PDO
01/10/15 07:11 ON DELIVERY KINGS NORTON PDO
01/10/15 07:02 AT DELIVERY OFFICEKINGS NORTON PDO KINGS NORTON PDO
01/10/15 04:48 ON ITS WAY TOKINGS NORTON PDO BIRMINGHAM MAIL CENTRE
01/10/15 04:37 ARRIVED ATBIRMINGHAM MAIL CENTRE BIRMINGHAM MAIL CENTRE
30/09/15 04:27 ON ITS WAY TOBIRMINGHAM MAIL CENTRE HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
I'm guessing that customs released the item to Royal Mail on the 30th September. Would Kings Norton be your local delivery office?

Re: Attempted delivery now the package is off the radar
Thank you very much. Yeah, if you go to royalmail.com, go over to the "Receiving Mail" menu and then click "Track your item", that page it takes you to just gives an error with that tracking number. A closer look at the page makes it seem like it's actually for tracking items that you sent out yourself, yet confusingly it's reached via the "Receiving Mail" menu like I said. Oh well, it's all sorted out now. Thanks again.

Hi i am in the same situation at the moment. How did you get your issue sorted? Did they send you a customs fee charge? Did they redeliver the next day? Thanks!
