You don't choose when to bring it back! When you are finished delivery you go back to the office. 3:30 or whatever, take it back then.

Your office seems to have a very strange way of working. I go in, finish prep etc, pack bags and go out on delivery. When I'm finished I go back to the office. I never go out then go back then go out again, and never take anything back until I'm finished.

The other thing is when I can finish early say like on a Tues or Sat I only have a few mins to chuck a hand full of D2D's in the frame as they chuck us all out of the D.O before 2:30 .
You must be doing something right if you finish early, I never do. Secondly, make sure you are meant to be doing door to doors. I'm not meant to prep mine, and NEVER do. Also, they should be prepped each morning a column or a row each day.

ok
the way things go where I am, any specials that are p739 still need to be scanned on return to the D.O before next working day . which means more time wasted driving back to the D.O sometimes with just one . I mean theyre obviously scanned by me on delivery but Ive been instructed to bring them back to be scanned back at the D.O after p739 is issued . If no one is there to do it and youve got some in your van the next morning tempers fray .
Yep occasionally I do actually finish before 3pm not often but the last week or so things have eased off (Its the calm before November) it wont last and it wont be long before things start going mental .I used to sort night shift for P.Farce . We will probably get a s**t load Parcle Force over-flow soon too !

I've never heard of anything so daft.

What do the non-drivers do? And the rurals?

How many miles round trip is it? How does the manager explain this madness?

Maybe different rules out here, but our specials and all other 739 items are usually scanned in next morning after attempted delivery. That might be because we can let ourselves into the office and leave them there locked up overnight instead of just putting them in the back of the van until the next day like it sounds you do - I'm surprised they allow any mail to be left in vans overnight.

The non-drivers arent allowed specials at my D.O .
To be fair the driving distances are short .

BUZZBOY if you don't want to have to return to the office just phone the numbers through. The cage can then enter them into their system (PDA) so they're ready to go first thing.

Our PHG (yes I know we don't have them anymore but that's what we call the guy in the cage) Knocks off at 1400 but our office opens again at 1500 for the public to get their 739 parcels. Therefore any parcels (especially specials) need to have been booked back into the DO or they can't sign them out that afternoon! So we just phone any numbers through after 1300 and that keeps everyone happy! :Very Happy
