Special next day delivery TRACK AND TRACE issue

I am new here... I have recently just attempted to track and trace my Special delivery package that was sent Last thursday (17th september) for next day delivery.

I have just gone online today and it still states that "it's on its way"

I am really worried as I had a deadline and just cant understand why it will still be on its way a week later

Can anyone shed some light?

This is all it says:

17/09/15 15:57 SENT AT POST OFFICE 200 Ealing Road HA0 4QG

Ask the sender to check with that post office branch, as from the detailed tracking it looks like it was never collected from the post office branch

Another scenario from that tracking information a that it has not been sent by special deliver and just been sent as signed for instead

the two letters are "AF"

I went back to the post office today and they said there is no way they can track it.

I called the royal mail and they are now trying to track the package. This is very upsetting and very very odd. I wish I never trusted them with such important documents (2x passport, 2x birth certificates, marriage certificate (from usa), etc etc).
