M Bags and tracking

Post by PeterR »

I sent an M Bag to a customer in Greece to whom I have sent many M Bags over the past four years. It's only 2½ weeks since I sent it, but it evidently has not arrived yet and the customer is concerned. The Greek PO said that it is possible to send a registered M Bag with tracking, and Googling I see that some countries do provide this, but it seems clear that there is no such thing in UK.

People in other countries (North American ones) were talking about the fact that some Customs Declaration forms include a tracking number which some countries' Post Offices continue to track after passing through Customs. I take it that none of our UK customs forms include a built-in tracking number, and that there is no other way that one can (lawfully and without getting into trouble with RM) add a bar code label to the Address/Customs tag that may get tracked within the foreign country after the plastic International Destination label has been removed at entry to the country (given that the address label is hidden by the plastic routing label while the M Bag is in the UK)?
