Hello,
I am expecting a very important package (more like a letter) from the UK to Taiwan. It was being sent via International Signed For, posted on the morning of the 7th September.
The current tracking status says:
Your item, posted on 07/09/15 with reference RJ436549118GB has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in TAIWAN.
I appreciate that as of me posting it's not technically late. The sender told me an incorrect (faster) estimate for delivery, so I panicked when I did not recieve it on Friday and so started calling around.
As of today, what I know is that the letter got to Heathrow on the morning of the 9th September. I have spoken to Taiwanese customs and the Taiwanese mail service, neither have any record of it. I know that the tracking number is only for the UK but the woman at the postal service said they can use it. I spoke to another woman who said she works in the first office in Taiwan that the mail would go through and she said that sometimes the mail doesn't fly directly, it may have gone via Europe. I called Royal Mail and they said it would fly directly and also they have no idea what plane it was on and there is no way to find out.
Does anyone know, what are the possible routes international mail (specifically International Signed For) could take?
The tracking information is so vague that I don't even know what country it is in or how long I might have to wait.
I'd rather not get into this, but if I don't get this soon, I will be out of a job and possibly in legal trouble.
Any information or assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Physical international routes from UK to Taiwan
Unfortunately that information you are looking for is really of no use for you, all you need to be aware of is the possible timescales for it to get there, there is that much mail sent back and forth that when an item is reported missing thats really just the end of it unless it happens to turn up or the sender makes a claim and compensation is paid out, it would not be searched for even if you tried to contact each step of the waydevlkore wrote: Does anyone know, what are the possible routes international mail (specifically International Signed For) could take?

That is really sad to hear. In my current situation, waiting around for the claim window is simply not an option. The Taiwanese post and customs people seem like they want to help, so hopefully it will turn up in the next couple of days.zx135 wrote:Unfortunately that information you are looking for is really of no use for you, all you need to be aware of is the possible timescales for it to get there, there is that much mail sent back and forth that when an item is reported missing thats really just the end of it unless it happens to turn up or the sender makes a claim and compensation is paid out, it would not be searched for even if you tried to contact each step of the waydevlkore wrote: Does anyone know, what are the possible routes international mail (specifically International Signed For) could take?
Thanks for the more detailed tracking link SpacePhoenix. It's strange that the default Royal Mail site only gives limited information.
