Hi,
I recently sent some important documents to one of my friend and it was undelivered because of some reason. Dont know if the delivery boy went to the right address. here is full tracking detail. And the status was set to "Returned to Sender" .And I have been waiting for a week now. Here are the questions I have
1) Does any know if I can expect my parcel back any soon.
2) When the status is set to "Returned to Sender" why is it not tracked after ? Can i suspect some kind of scam at hounslow PDO?
3) In what circumstances does a Special Delivery not tracked ?
4) Given this can I except the parcel to be at Belfast National return Center by any chance. If that is the case why is it not tracked ?

Return to sender specials should be tracked all the way back to the sender. Did your friend get a "something for you" card?

Re: "Returned to Sender" RM special delivery 9AM undelivered
your package is still at Hounslow PDO awaiting a redelivery request by the receiving person.
they would have had a P739 ( a red " something for you" card ) delivered to their address when they were not there when delivery was attempted.
if they do not have the P739, they can go to the Delivery office with ID ( address and personal ) and collect the item.
all items that are P739'd are held for 18 days at the delivery office before being sent on / back to the sender.
there will be a new code on the tracking when your item has been sent elsewhere ( I work in the callers office and book in the specials etc so I know how it all works etc )

Re: "Returned to Sender" RM special delivery 9AM undelivered
It went to a wrong address somehow (never went to my friends house) and it was rejected. My friend went to the honslow PDO next day and they told that it "Returned to Sender" and they couldnt find that there. The delivery boy never went to my friends address. When some one set that status as "Returned to Sender" what actions they might have done? a) throwed the parcel in send class to go to "national return center" 2) Marked the parcel to return back (if this is the case why is it not tracked ?) 3) ????????doorstepped wrote:your package is still at Hounslow PDO awaiting a redelivery request by the receiving person.

Re: "Returned to Sender" RM special delivery 9AM undelivered
when a special is RTS it is entered into a book with the senders details, the address it was sent to, the date it was returned and who inputted it into said book.
a special is tracked everywhere, if the delivery office can't account for the parcels whereabouts ring customer services 03457 740740 http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help- ... royal-mail and ask for them to track it and tell you where it is, if they can't find it, ask for a claim form for compensation for the lost of the parcel.
all specials even if Killed off / returned to sender / refused will get sent back to the mail centre in a separate bag from everything else so they know it is a special delivery and not normal mail.
I hope you find out what happened to your parcel and that it won't stop you using RM again in the future.

Thanks for the reply. And one question, if the status is RTS then is there a chance that it is returned to the National Return Center?

Did the item have the return address written on the outside? If it does then it should be returned to you. Items normally only goto the National Return Center if there is no return address visible on the outside of an itempsrvarma wrote:Thanks for the reply. I have written the "TO address" (at the center) and "From address" (bottom lefthand corner) on the same side of the envelope. Is that "From address" considered as the return address ? It is almost one week, i did not receive my parcel and RM site says the parcel will be returned in the same service as you delivered. If the status is set to "Returned to Sender" then that means that guy has clearly seen the "From Address". But why did it not reach me ???

Re: "Returned to Sender" RM special delivery 9AM undelivered
Yes, it will be returned to the "from" address.
If there is no intrinsic value to the contents and if you haven't paid for Consequential Loss cover then I would consider putting a claim form in straight away.

Re: "Returned to Sender" RM special delivery 9AM undelivered
My identity documents are in it. I want my parcel back at any cost. I can never trust Royal mail again if something happens to my parcel now. And is there any team in RT which handles such cases ? Please advice.Snaggletooth wrote:Yes, it will be returned to the "from" address.

The parcel has a prepaid special delivery return envelope as well. If by mistake someone opened the envelope they are in a position to send it back to me immediately.
