Hi all,
I've just realised I make a rather stupid mistake last week. I had prepared a letter to send to a friend whilst in the Netherlands and had put Dutch stamps on it. I couldn't find a postbox at the ferry port in Holland so just posted it when I got to the UK without thinking that it would now need UK stamps.
Can anyone advice what will happen to the letter? Will it just get binned or will it go to the address and then they be asked to cover the cost?
I realise this is totally my fault but would like to know if anyone has an idea what will happen so I can advise the recipient.
Best wishes,
Stephen

Re: stupid mistake posted using foreign stamps
I believe it should come back to you. If you put your return address on it (as all mail should have) and that address is in the UK then it will come back pretty fast. If there is no return address on the outside, it will go to the dead letter centre for opening, and if they find a UK address it will be returned to you: this would probably take a couple of months. If there is an overseas return address then I have no idea what's going to happen.
