track and trace - sent to HTR DC in error!

Post by whyaye2005 »

please can someone shed some light. I'm going on holiday tomorrow night (thursday) and this morning (wed) I should of received my 9am guaranteed special delivery. .but I didn't. it was meant to be delivered to north yorkshire from london but apparently in error it was sent from London to Heathrow DC even though it hasn't come from outside the UK and nor is it leaving the UK! I was told that as long as the address was correct I should get it tomorrow. what is concerning me deeply that still at 20.48 the last tracked movement was from last night at 24.48 saying it was at Heathrow! as it's not shown any movement on track and trace does this mean it still im heathrow and my chances of it coming tomorrow is next to none? I'm so angry I spent 25 quid and now if it doesn't come im totally screwed. please does anyone know ?

As a Post Office bod I wouldn't normally presume to answer a Royal Mail question, but this is time critical and you are understandably concerned...

The Special Delivery network basically operates at night, so you wouldn't expect any tracking during the day. I had a special which went to the wrong mail centre once and that sat around all day before moving the next evening and being delivered 24 hours late. I got my money back.

I would generally expect something to show up on the tracking tonight. Your item has probably been put in with the international registered mail for the first leg and that doesn't seem to get tracked as frequently as normal SDs. I would check again near midnight, if you are up.
