ROISSY CTCI IMP RAP - Post stuck in France!

Post by malevo »

Seems like everyone is having the same problem, why theres nothing happening to resolve this? WE sent a parcel with international track service, we choose to pay more to have a 'safer' and quicker delivery but now Royal Mail is telling me theres nothing they can do and cant guarantee a time of delivery beyeond this pint. Then why should I choose such a service? I sent this parcel with urgency for a deadline last Wednesday and is three days now that says Your item, posted on 02/05/14 with reference ... has arrived in ROISSY CTCI IMP RAP and is being processed for delivery. Apparently this is a scum happening often and the parcel will just disappear. Is there any way to stop this happening? Does anyone have a useful contact in France to get in touch with? CAN ROYAL MAIL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?!?!?!?!

Can Royal Mail do anything - with all honesty No

Apparently ROISSY CTCI IMP RAP - means Customs at Charles De Gaulle Airport - You could try contacting them.

It's probably being handled by a company called GLS in France (https://gls-group.eu/EU/en/parcel-tracking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?).

What entries are there when you try the tracking number at http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ?

I have sent 2 French tax returns by royal mail international tracked and signed for.
One sent in April when the return was due which never arrived so a demand was
sent by the Frejus tax office to us. I have now sent a copy of the tax return on 01 August 2014
and today the status is 'Received in ROISSY CTCI IMP RAP awaiting delivery.'
If the tax office don't receive the return by 23 August there will be a 750 euro fine.
Royal mail have said they can't chase it as lost until 30 August.
Why are Royal mail not doing anything about this.

To be blunt why are you asking us. We are not an official site and we try to make this obvious by posting this on every page.
We have no affiliation with either Royal Mail or the Communications Workers Union (CWU), except that most of our members work for Royal Mail and/or are members of the CWU.
and this in the Customers Front page
CUSTOMERS
Please note we are not Royal Mail we are an 'Independent Postal Workers Website'.

To be clear RoyalMailChat is an unofficial forum which has no official or unofficial recognition or support from Royal Mail at all. It was set up initially as a site where posties could exchange views and offer support.

We then added a customer forum because of the number of posts we were getting asking for advice. We can't answer any question in any official capacity, but we can offer advice, guidance and insights that hopefully will help in some small way.

We understand at times that things don't go to plan, and we will do our best 'in our leisure time' to help you as best we can with any problems you may have.
On the Advice side

You could try this 2 tracking sites depending on who its going to be delivered by

GLS https://gls-group.eu/EU/en/parcel-tracking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

La Poste http://www.laposte.fr/particulier/outil ... vos-envois" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - I think that's the tracking site my French isn't good.

I believe I can fully answer your question concerning Royal Mail tracked &signed international.
The mail will be tracked to the destination country (eg Paris). After that your mail is considered to be on it's way via the country's own postal service (eg laPoste for France). The tracking site will only now be updated with the same info (made it to destination country) and this will be automatically generated. Your mail however will be winging it's way to you via the destination country's mail and you should expect it within 5/7 working days. There is no possibility of tracking but it will be on it's way. This service then is mis-named!! You will not be able to track it to it's destination. Hope this helps a bit for people concerned that mail has "gone missing" - it almost certainly hasn't it just can't be tracked.
Royal Mail "tracked and signed" isn't COMPLETELY useless but, perhaps, if it applied itself, it could be :shhhhh

I am in exactly the same problem area.

We are getting married at the beginning of June in France and ordered a ring in April. It was posted, internationally tracked and signed on April 29. We cannot duplicate that ring.

It has been showing at Roissy CTCI IMP RAP since April 30.

Even though it shows on the LaPoste system, they do not recognise it as ACTUALLY received by them, so it is in mid air. A ridiculous situation !!! Royal Mail not responsible......LaPoste not responsible. LaPoste just refer us to Royal Mail

There are many internet posts showing the same situation. Surely, it would be sensible for some initiative or liaison between Royal Mail and Roissy CTCI IMP RAP, for situations like this.

We are the customer.....and not receiving any sort of customer service. Why cannot someone make a phone call ????

As TBT said above, Roissy CTCI IMP RAP is part of French customs. Neither the Royal Mail nor La Poste have the right to order French customs to do anything as it is part of a sovereign government. In fact it's pretty difficult for anyone to do anything as, in the law of most countries, the correct operation of customs is a higher priority than the speedy operation of the mail.

It is correct that a complaint should be directed to Royal Mail, as the general principle is that a complaint is lodged in the sending country. You could also consider making a complaint to the French government about the speed of the customs service, as they are the only people that can influence the rules & resourcing which govern speed there.

Yes, I take that point....Snaggletooth, but there should be some co-ordination and help available to the customer, whether it is the French or UK customs.

The volume of complaints that this operation at CDG receives is not acceptable. I've done a little more digging since I posted, which may be of assistance to myself and others. At the moment, I'm waiting for my good lady, who is French to arrive home so she can talk to them (hopefully)

The info I found out is as follows: from another forum)

Generally when this sort of thing happens (and its not often in France) you can ring the sorting centre direct to see if they can help. The numbers are published if you search on line. You will probably need to speak to them in French but if you have a tracking number and can let them know where you posted it (town and postcode) they will usually do all they can to search for it.

I switched two labels for an international order recently by mistake and the sorting office found the parcels and held them till I could resolve the matter.

It also helps to put a return lable with an e mail address or phone number on the back of every despatch.

Bonne chance !

Edit:

Here are some helpful numbers - probably customs enquiries is the best

General Enquiries +33 1 70 36 39 50.
Customs enquiries +33 1 48 62 62 85

Depending on the value of the ring i would not have chosen for it to be sent international tracked and signed as its only covered upto a maximum of £250 for compensation

Actually your not royal mail or french posts customer, the sender is, that is who you should be calling and the sender should then be chasing up royal mail. the sender is the person who has the duty to get the item to you, if they have chosen royal mail and then entered into a contract with royal mail to get the item to you that is between the sender and royal mail, hence any delays or if it goes missing its the senders responsibility to sort it out

We can't make your parcel do anything because we aren't Royal Mail, we are an independent forum. We can provide information and advice. It isn't clear from your post: did you send the letter from the UK to Romania, but it is now stuck in France? Also, it is very difficult to say too much about this unless you either give us your tracking number or copy & paste the tracking information into a post.
