Hi there
I don't know which section this needs to go in so I'll put it here. I'm in a situation where I live with my parents, I'm in my late teens but I have a full time job, pay rent have a car etc etc. I still expect post like any normal Tom, Dick or Harry but I do not seem to receive any. This is because my mother reads my post. I will come back on a lunch break from work to chill at home for an hour because nobody is there, and low and behold I have post. Now today I saw 3 letters addressed to me, and I thought I would leave it and come back home after work see what happened. No post in my room, or in the house. Instead it is in the bin ripped up envelopes and letters as my mother will just keep reading it. This has happened a lot over the last few years, the problem had stopped but it has began again recently and it's caused over arguments where my mom would keep letters from me, store them in a cupboard and hide them from me, and when she is annoyed with me will bring up these letters (one massive one was a late payment for a phone bill, nothing big but I withdrew the payment over a dispute) and would keep these from me.
I know I can get a collection slot sorted where I can collect from my local depot however the length of the application seems a long time to sort out, I don't have utility bills, my card statements are all paperless and the only thing stopping me is also that they would send a letter back to me saying I can collect which would defeat the object! Can anyone please help if the Royal Mail allow these circumstances and if I phone them or sort something out? I am desperate here.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
woodsig

Could you not get your post delivered to your place of work?

In all honesty I'd rather not get it redirected to work, just collect it (may be in the process of moving jobs to a competitor).

Re: Can anyone help? In a situation - need to collect post
I had a similar experience many years ago before I took this job. My elderly father who lived in the house next door to us down a very long driveway would often track down the postie in the street and get all our mail off him along with his and then 'forget' to give it to us. I'd eventually spot a bundle of it stuffed on the dash of his vehicle or in a pile in his house, often opened if it looked remotely interesting.
I did attempt to get the local delivery office to hold our mail for us for me to collect, but it seemed a bit hit and miss - I think in my case it depended on which postie was working our village that day. However, that is what I'd recommend you do, just pop in to the local office and ask them to do so. It should be simple for them to arrange, and I've no idea why I had such problems. You will need to have adequate ID and proof of your address obviously, otherwise your mum, or anyone else even, could use the same system to do it against you!
The situation for me was only eventually resolved when we were able to move away and one of the great things about doing that was having my own mail delivered to my own place without being monitored by the old guy! Families, eh? Aren't they just great.

You could get a PO Box, bit that might be expensive.
