Track & Trace Conundrum

Post by Madwife2009 »

Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help, I am at a complete loss with this one :(

Sent an item via Second Class Signed For on 21/02/2015, reference no KX120151020GB. I saw the PO staff scan the item's barcode, have the printed receipt with the barcode on and saw the staff put it in the mailbag ready to be collected. Nothing unusual, all as it should be.

The problem is that when I try to find out the status of the item, it states "Sorry, there has been a problem with reference number you've entered. Please try again." Usually the status is "Accepted by POL" before delivery but there is nothing for this item. I haven't come across this before and to be honest both RM and PO CS haven't been terribly helpful, nor can they explain why this has happened.

And, typically, of course, the recipient is claiming that it hasn't been delivered.

Any ideas?

Status: Royal Mail Signed For™ items are only scanned when the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent 1st or 2nd class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later.
Please come back later
Information on your Royal Mail Signed For™ item is not yet available.
It shows that now, so it's still on it's way unfortunately.

I had a problem a few days ago with track and trace where it worked, then for a day said the tracking number was invalid, then next day started working again.

Or that the item has been delivered but the tracking hasn't been uploaded.

Ah well, I shall give it a few more days and then refund I guess.

Thanks for your help though, it's appreciated.

It said that to me when I was using the wrong track and trace service - the one for business users of tracked mail.

Mine should have been delivered a week ago and still shows nothing on the website - thankfully the ebay purchaser hasn't claimed it didn't turn up so the label must have just been ignored and posted.

About 2 years ago this was happening very regularly, but has become less common. It's some kind of software fault, but whether it's the Post Office or Royal Mail at fault is unclear. The important thing is to keep your proof of posting so you can lodge a claim if anything goes wrong.
