Hi, my husband sent a letter on 22/04/2014 trough Royal Mail from Bishops Stortford to Constanta. From 24/04/2014 8:47 on the GLS website it says that the letter is in Germany. I called at GLS and they said that the letter is still in Germany. I would like to know if my husband sent it trough Royal Mail, why it is at GLS now? and They told to my husband when he sent it that will take 4 days to come in Romania. Where is the letter? Why does it take so much? Today is 28, is it still in Germany?

GLS is a European subsidiary of Royal Mail, thats why its been passed on to them as Royal Mail don't actually deliver in Europe.

Germany is the central Hub for GLS and all items go through there.

We can't tell you why it takes so long as we are neither GLS or Royal Mail, we are an independent site, so you would have to address your concerns to those 2 organisations if you want an official response, we can only offer advice.

I can't seem to find information for my package with tracking no. RU445113207GB, on the Royal Mail website is says that my item has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in ROMANIA but on the GLS website there are no results for my tracking number. Can you please help?

Yes - its between the 2 companies. Transfer from the UK to europe is not instantaneous as it has to be loaded, checked and cleared The item was passed only late Friday so its not likely to show up till next week, more especially because its a National Holiday in the UK.

Its showing as in Germany Yesterday - thats the main European Hub for GLS so its on its way.

FIrst, I would like to thank this forum for answering my question already! I posted an International Signed For to Romania. The last few days the official Royal Mail status was "has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in ROMANIA". Now I know GLS is the courier, and that the latest status is that the packet reached Romania today.

But shouldn't I have got this information from the Royal Mail website, even a link to the overseas courier? Have I missed something?

No you've missed nothing. However the system does rely on the 3rd Party courier updating Royal Mail, and sometimes that doesn't always happen - even with a RM company like GLS. Its quite embarrassing to be honest.

Hello Everyone,

I have posted an item two days ago via International Track and Signed. Last time I sent a parcel to Romania when it was at the Worldwide DC I was given a reference number for from GLS on my Royal Mail track account with the confirmation that it was sent to RO (ref. number to check the track on the GLS website). I wasn't given one now... do you guys know how I might find it out? Thanks. Please see below my tracking number and tracking info from Royal Mail.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me a bit. I sent a letter to Romania using International Tracked and Signed (tracking number RN169662369GB) on the 14/05 and since the very next day, on the Royal Mail's website it says "RECEIVEDUNKNOWN BAG - MISSING DUN HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC".

I called customer services couple of times and just found out that my item is in Germany with a company called GLS. Now, I checked on their website and the only status I get is that my item is "Inbound to GLS location" Germany.

Is that really true? Is my item on the way to Romania, Germany or just lost? The way I read these messages is...my item is in Heathrow, STILL, on the way to that company GLS, but not there yet.

If anyone could help that would be great as it was a very important document inside that envelope, which was needed yesterday. I checked and I cannot claim any losses if the item is late, even if it is tracked and signed as Royal Mail "aims" to deliver and does not guarantee this.
