UK - Australia. Parcel opened in Belfast and returned to me

Post by me_lissa »

Just got my parcel back but a bit confused. I had no idea nail polish was a prohibited item outside of the UK and simply put 'nail kit' on my declaration form. (it's a nail design kit)

Quite rightly it was opened and checked at NRC in Belfast and returned to me with a ID8000 label on but also a label saying:

This item has been opened and checked by staff at the NRC in Belfast; it does not contain a dangerous good Or if correctly labelled and is safe for transport BY AIR.

So does that mean I can return to the post office tomorrow and have it re sent?

Thanks for the help in advance and sorry if it comes across as asking a stupid question.

Nail varnish is classed as a dangerous good. It is completely banned from international mail but allowed within the UK under certain strict conditions. You mention a 'declaration', which I take to be a customs declaration, so presumably it was going to a non-EU country?
