Parcel being accepted twice

Post by bv »

Hi

This is my first post and I hope I am not breaking any conventions by asking questions in the first post.

I posted an article using second class signed for service.

My parcel was scanned at my local postoffice on 28th November. Now it shows that my parcel was scanned at a postoffice at the recepient's local postoffice on the 3rd December!

I am not sure what to make of this. The tracking number is KR994777918GB and the Royal Mail link I used to figure out the details: http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Could someone help me understand what this might mean, please. Thanks in advance.

Its possible that when delivery was attempted they were not in and asked for redelivery to the PO at the 2nd scan. Thats a guess though for confirmation you would need to make contact with customer services.

Ah I see, the tracking is now making sense to me, thank you.

Btw Would you know why the postmen/women not getting signature for recorded delivery? Out of 10 parcels, 3 of them don't seem to be seen as delivered. It is so anxiety provoking because I live under the anticipation of non receipt claims. I am facing a claim from a buyer who has been attempting to intimidate me (and it is not even within the time frame of delivery date) claiming that he hasnt received his parcel. He has been threatening to leave feedback on the delay/non receipt/requesting to wait for refund as well. And it was posted on 26th November. I wonder what the system is about recording signature. Most of the time receipients receive them, and yet, there is no sign of delivery on the tracking.

It could be that the postie doesn't have a PDA when they deliver the item, so they get a physical signature on a form. Normally 99% of us will have a PDA everyday, however over Christmas when there are more posties working (leave is banned for the pre Christmas Period) but no extra PDAs, then there isn't enough to go round.

There are also delays caused by the sheer volume of traffic - though a weeks delay would be unusual.

Thank You for explaining. I really appreciate your time as well. I only just noticed that staff also respond. That is great. So it is first hand information then. I will try not to come here regularly and moan but I must say that I seem to have tracking problems crop up now and then.

Thanks again for your help.

I have to say that there are a small minority of postmen who think they are doing their customers (the receiver of the item) a favour by either signing for items themselves, or just not bothering to get a signature. As an eBay seller I got a good response by adding a message onto the item saying something like 'Postman: Please note this item requires a signature, please leave a card if necessary'. It seemed to do the trick, I got a lot more signatures.

Isn't the compensation for "no signature" about £50 now for Recorded Delivery items?

Royal Mail Signed For™ items are covered against loss or damage up to the sum of £50 or the value of the item, whichever is lower. Compensation for valuables, such as money and jewellery is not available on this serivce. In the event of an item being delivered but where no signature is obtained, you can claim for a refund amounting to the difference between the 1st Class postage and the cost of Royal Mail Signed For™ 1st Class.

I am sure the poster at work says something different........
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Thank You.

That is a good idea. I must place an order for signature required labels on ebay.

I am anticipating another claim. A buyer paid me £7 for special delivery and I posted it according to their instructions, on the 9th. Guess what, no signture, simply a message saying that it is progressing. SC994808487GB.

I am sure the delivery office or the post man concerned has an explanation. But both my buyer or amazon will have non of it, I must pay out in three days :'( I would also lose my parcel because according to amazon policy, buyer is not obliged to return my parcl, even if I paid for it.

OP you should pursue the delivery of the Special with RM. It is a secure service and posties should treat them as such. Signed For/Recorded is a waste of time/money for traders. It is intended for proving a dated papertrail for courts/local authorities. It is now RM policy that Signed For can be signed for by a neighbour, which I suspect most traders do not know.

Thanks all.

"RECEIVEDUNKNOWN BAG - MISSING DUN GUILDFORD PDO"

Why does it say "UNKOWN", How do I intepret that please? I had the address written on the envelope, so I am sure it is not "unknown"!

I pay for special delivery and get an ordinary service, I might as well have posted it first class. However I don't think I could put in a claim for the difference in postage because although it is "guaranteed" service, the parcel would be received within 3 working days.

This is really frustrating because I wish I had the money to throw away or the "prolific" seller status to let these things happen to me on a regular basis but this seems to be an everyday thing these days. On my postbook, I have 3-4 recorded parcels not signed for out of every 10 parcels sent. I practically live in anticipation of "non receipt" claims. My local postmen are such lovely folks, I have never ever lost a single parcel ever. I cannot imagine any other postmen not doing their job properly, so it seems that there is something very wrong in Royal Mail system of collection and logging of recorded parcels.

My receipt says that it was not collected after the last collection. Our last collection is around 5:15.

Also I send using this service regularly, around 4pm and never had a problem before. Parcels show that they reach Leeds Mail centre after 8:30 pm. This parcel was clearly neglected.

Don't worry about the Unknown Bag, or missing DUN - its all to do with internal processes within the system.

However, I notice it was a Leeds MC for just over 24 hours - this means even if it gets to its destination then the sender can claim the cost of postage back as its part of the guarantee.

You can claim on line https://royalmailemailform.datasquirt.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or by getting the form from a Post Office, or indeed printing it off and completing it. http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/ ... 2%20_0.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can I get a refund if my item is not delivered on time?
Yes. Please keep your proof of posting receipt. If your item is not delivered on time we’ll refund your money providing you have your proof of posting and claim within 14 days of posting. If your item gets lost or damaged while it’s in our care, you can make a claim for compensation or consequential loss.
