I can't find an answer to my question anywhere online so I'm hoping you guys can help me.
I sent a package to the US last week (27th Nov).
After getting home, I realise the lady in the post office hadn't asked me to fill in a customs form. So I would like to know is this likely just to be returned to sender, as I've forgotten to put a returns address on. Or will customs open, inspect and it still get to its rightful place?
If it does get returned to sender, what would be the process from getting it back from Belfast? Can I give a description of the item (it's in a pretty distinctive box as I wrapped it up for Xmas) and the address it was due to go to? It doesn't have any tracking on, just regular airmail.

It may delay it as its more likely to be inspected by US Customs and Homeland Security but if its rejected it will be returned to sender (you did put that on the parcel I hope) or if no return address then it will go to Belfast to be opened.
Also if you haven't completed the customs label or included a return address that may delay it even more as knowing how nervous the Americans are they will think its suspicious and may do allsorts to it, or they may do nothing its difficult to say.
Keep in contact with the receiver to see when and if they get it.
