First of all many thanks for doing this- offering help to customers who cannot find any answers elsewhere - much appreciated!
My problem: I posted a parcel with a collectible, fairly valuable item (limited edition babywearing wrap) via International Tracked and Signed for, insured up to £250 on 5th November 2014. The www3 Track and Trace has been saying "Your item, posted on 05/11/14 with reference RN040889253GB has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas." pretty much ever since. The other Tracking website - which I cannot access at the moment - is saying something about the parcel having reached the depot in Inverness on 5 November, and having been sent to Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre. A lady I spoke to at international mail services said she could not see any confirmation of the parcel being at Heathrow. She did mention that it might be stuck in customs, but a) what does that mean? b) is there any other way of finding out the whereabouts? c) how long is that likely to take?
I was informed that only on 18th December I would be able to start an investigation by sending a P58 form.
I feel very bad about this delay, because the parcel was part of a trade, and I received the counterpart from the USA weeks ago while the poor lady at the other end is still waiting, with no certain outcome
Your advice - anything - will be much appreciated
