We received a card to say we had missed the delivery of a parcel. The card said the parcel was available to collect at the local Royal Mail office.
I took the card along and went to the office (happens to be Rugby). As I stood in line, it struck me how dreadfully old fashioned this process is. This is the same rigmarole to collect a parcel as was being done 40 years ago.
Where is the smartphone app? the local collection point? the real time tracking?
Understand this is not a complaint as such. The guy behind the counter did his job exactly as you would hope.
Rather, it is an observation about the need to modernise and innovate.

I really didn't know about those services. Maybe it was because the initial communication was on paper that I just presumed I was stuck with old fashioned options.
Next time I'll ask for local collection at the post office (which is now open 7 days a week).
