Turn the 13 digits reference in 11 for GLS?

Post by ortigas »

Hi, so i've made a purchase from UK on ebay, and the seller is using Royal Mail to deliver, since it was my first time dealing with Royal Mail i was searching around who would deliver it in my contry ( portugal ), if CTT or someone else, after some time i end up discovering that it will be GLS.

So, since this early morning, the tracking info on Royal Mail site has stoped updating, it says something like "RN142177845GB has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in PORTUGAL" as a usual costumer on ebay, this seem'd a bit strange and i looked into it, after reading some topics in here, looks like GLS is a big pile of poop, specially when it concerns Portugal, so now i would like to check GLS tracking to see whats going on, but unfortunally i dont know how to turn the previous reference into the 11 characters one that GLS asks.

Bit of help? i've tried RN142177845GB, but it shows no data found, so dont know what to think right now...

Maybe omit the 'GB' from the end.

Looks like it's on its way to or has reached their site in Germany (its their central sorting hub)

If it's a phone and there is a battery in there you are going to have problems, it will more than likely be returned to sender rather than coming to you, due to the way gls now recently seem to be implementing IATA transport regulations regarding batteries

well the batery in non-removable, but i check this month feedback on ebay, and the seller is sucefully sending baterys and phones to diferent EU places... dont know what make of it really..

Something else bugging me atm, how long would take to arrive to that hub? they ship by truck or plane (to the hub), 2 intire days without updates are making me uneasy right now.

I'm guessing that it's going by road, as truck drivers are limited as to how many hours they can drive. According to Google Earth, choosing Berlin to Lisbon as a sample route, it gives a 25 hour driving time, so with the limits on driving hours that would easily be at least a couple of days. If it's going by air there might just be a capacity issue for cargo space
