I wouldn't have any faith in anything legally binding.
The AFG agreement was always going to be null and void in the event of a threat to the USO.
Moya has been telling everyone that the USO is under threat. The agreement is unlikely to run its course.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

No chance in hell of our PDAs lasting another 6 years (does Intermec even manufacture the batteries anymore?)

They stopped making the units this year so I would suppose they will continue the batteries for a while, whether RM would actually spend the money to buy any is something totally different.

I know, they are embarrasing now, but the 5 year rollout from Autumn 2015 is in the press release.

By then hermes etc will all be on a tablet, but unlike us taking them to survive, they'll use them to deliver.

I contacted IT regarding a PDA with a knackered battery and they sent a replacement (it took 3 days to arrive, used to be next day). Gave the replacement PDA a full charge and issued it the following day. It lasted 50 minutes before the battery ctitical message started. This is not the first time.

I don't think they have many (if any) new batteries and are just randomly sending PDA's up and down the country.

You're correct but they don't change over the batteries, they take an old PDA that they have been sent and then send it you, it's a very poor system when the best solution would be to just send a new battery.

Yes, I used to just put in a order for half a dozen new batteries and send the duff ones back. It used to be a good system.

I am back to using pen and paper- like the old days! No PDA I have been issued with this week has lasted to the first time its needed. Either a dieing/dead battery or endless buffering with those swirling black dots and 30 mins before the deliver or undelivered screen disappears. Total crap the lot of them!

RM are going to have to bite the bullet and buy some new batteries as the current ones won't last until the new PDAs role out

The problem isn't just the battery, the changing pins on the pda wear and don't make proper contact with the charging pins in van or charging cabinet, had to reseat the pda to get it to start charging.

Let's hope this time they are customer tested before we get them, and by that, I mean not designing them so that the customer signs when the pda is upside down - nine times out of ten the customer will turn it the 'right way' round and then sign.

I have given up telling them that it was the correct way when I handed it to them
