My parcel was sent to India instead to Lithuania

Post by Giedrulis »

Hello,
I sent my parcel from UK to Lithuania on 29.10.2014. It has reference number RN064061064GB. I was really disappointed when I found out that my parcel arrived to Mumbai instead to Lithuania. It got stuck there. I want my parcel back. It was a gift for my daughter. I think, I will not get it back. No one takes responsibility for this mistake. I contacted the Royalmail and there was only an apology and nothing more. I am attempting to contact with Mumbai post but I haven't received any answer from them yet. What am I supposed to do?

Not wanting to p1ss on your bonfire, with that parcel being in a country well known for its high level of corruption. that parcel is as good as lost, the fact they haven't responded to you is an indication of that. time to make an insurance claim against Royal Mail, but you need to leave at 25 working days before making a claim.

I think, you're right. I would be calm if my parcel arrived somewhere in Europe not there by mistake. My parcel is worth more than their compensation. I want my parcel back!!! I was said to wait 20 working days and they will accept my claim. Royal mail service is unreliable. I wish I hadn't sent it via Royal mail. :arrrghhh :thumbdown

I am sorry to hear that mate, and i agree with some comments that you may should consider that the item will be lost and gone. Royal mail customer service tells you they will investigate after certain periods passed since the scheduled delivery date, but you know that they are playing Micky on you.
When you claim the compensation, be ready for unreasonable responses from Royalmail for your claim.

They will do everything to not to pay you the compensation even though they only pay £50 max a or 100 x first class stamps on the loss. it does not matter how valuable the item were, they will only consider cost value and not a market value for your item. I don't know how they determine the "cost value"
So if you can get any receipt of the item which is missing, make sure you make a copy of the receipt, because they will ask you to send the original receipt to them.
I read somewhere that some one send requested documents to the correct department where deal with customer complains and heard nothing, so call them and he was told that the document never arrived. and guess the original receipt is gone missing like the missing post which he was trying to get compensation.....so you can guess the rest of the story.

I wish you best of luck

I hope everyone start writing to authorities about this big issue of Royal mail service. Too many missing items and no responsibilities were taken by Royal mail.
Their compensation is a joke but not funny.
