Was;
5:30 am - 2:00 pm Mon - Fri
5:30 am - 11:30 am Sat
Now it's;
5:45 am - 2:15 pm Mon - Fri
6:15 am - 12:15 pm Sat
Hanging around waiting for mail LONGER now than ever before. I'm off on Saturday, so I've no idea what'll happen.
I thought these changes would mean less time waiting for mail to arrive in the lorries not more time sitting around doing f**k all.
Guess thats RM management for you.

Yes you are correct it was a waste of timegreen x code man wrote:it 4 o clock just got in same again today at watford about 5 people came back and it was the same faces going out in breaks etc etc its a fact watford has folded now and im starting to think im the only mug doing the job properly might as well give up rush round and become part time what a waste of time the last 16 weeks have been
But....
You were forewarned on many occasions that this time "things would change"
As I have stated before,I admire peoples commitment,however.....I bet it seems a bit lonely in the office now at 15:00,
It does to me

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Nooo
I guess by the amount of replies i got later starts are here for good then ?
what were we striking for in first place ? later starts was the biggest issue for me as i parent of 2 kids and my partner works full time and p/t carer for my dad who has m/s and my old hours 6-2 suited me as i could go care for dad in afternoon and afterwards pick kids up at 3 but now its all f****d up so suppose im gonna have to leave royal mail now as manager says nothing they can do .
Thanks cwu for f**k all .

I think you will find that Royal Mail are the ones who forced the changes in so stop blaming the union and lets just wait and see what the deal is before slagging them off

later starts
I already seen my manager with my rep and there solution was to change offices as i live 14 miles from my d.o and to drop my hours from 30 hours to 18 hours a week. only person who has permission to start 2 hours earlier is the union rep .

Re: later starts
May I then suggest you contact Union HQ. If your being forced into less hours this is constructive dismissal. Get your union membership number and log on to the cwu website where a full statement with a contingency plan for people with the same difficulty's as you are facing.manc_daddy wrote:I already seen my manager with my rep and there solution was to change offices as i live 14 miles from my d.o and to drop my hours from 30 hours to 18 hours a week. only person who has permission to start 2 hours earlier is the union rep .
In the mean time, get special leave to finish at the old time photo copy it and make sure you document any loss of pay. You should put in a grievance as in April new regulations with flexible working for people who look after elderly relatives and people who depend on them came into force.
No. 321/2007

Date: 4th April 2007
To: All Branches
Dear Colleague
Flexible Working Improvements, Maternity Rights and Adoption Rights Under The Work And Families Act 2006
Branches were previously advised of the impending changes to the right to apply for flexible working being extended to carers of adults. From 6 April 2007, the Work and Families Act 2006 and, in Northern Ireland, the Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 extend the right to request flexible working to include employees who care or are expecting to care for an adult in need of care.
The right to apply is in line with the existing provision for parents of children who meet the criteria. ACAS have produced an advice leaflet and a booklet on the extended rights now available Their website is http://www.acas.org.uk and their advice line is 08457 47 47 47. Also feel free to contact the CWU Equality Department.
Please do not give up, this is policy you shouldn't loose wages over this - if you have to take this to a tribunal so be it. But don't just accept what is being said.

You write a letter stating that,
You have no child-minding facility's in place because your current child-minder (husband) is not available you will until arrangements can be made only work till XXXX times
Yours sincerely
Your name
Photo copy it. CC to the branch or union rep in your office.
When you sign in sign out for the time that you will be leaving and make sure the manager knows about it. You are then not claiming money for time not worked. Bounce that ball right back into there court. If you get any come back ask for any response in writing. Photo copy all documents and forward to your Union Rep.
