Admin and Supply Chain pay update

Post Office bosses have told CWU pay negotiators that they will be putting forward a pay offer for Admin and Supply Chain workers when the two sides meet for talks on Wednesday.

0In a message to branches today, CWU national officer Andy Furey said that he had "urged the Post Office to make a realistic offer so that agreement can be reached before the end of July."

The 2014/15 pay settlement for Admin and Supply Chain grades was due to have been resolved back in April and the union has expressed its "disappointment" at the slow progress from the management side.
Andy Furey, CWU national officer wrote:"It follows that as our members are delivering financial benefits to the Post Office, they, in turn, should receive improvements to pay"

"Much dialogue in relation to this area took place during the Crown negotiations last December and earlier this year and we have urged the Post Office to accelerate these talks," Andy continued, adding: "It is hoped that their offer will not be linked to unreasonable conditions and that our members can receive their just rewards without further delay."

The CWU negotiating team will, he continued, insist to the company that there should be no affordability issues such as those which plagued the Crown pay negotiations and that the union's key objective is to reach a "fair and equitable" one-year pay agreement with "no 'strings" attached.

Andy concluded: "Our Admin and Supply Chain members deserve to share in the recent successes demonstrated by a significant number of new contracts being absorbed into the Supply Chain operation. These contracts bring with them additional revenue to the Post Office. It follows that as our members are delivering financial benefits to the Post Office, they, in turn, should receive improvements to pay."

Further meetings are scheduled for next week and further information will follow in due course.

A message received today from Keith Rann states.
"The Post Office position on these talks is simple – we want to agree a deal which is affordable and allows us to make the changes we need to grow our business as well as reward colleagues for their hard work. This principle isn’t new. It’s what we’ve already done with Crown colleagues in partnership with the CWU.
We have been very clear to the CWU that we are willing to offer a self-funded consolidated pay rise – if they will commit to working with us to deliver cost savings and changes to ways of working in our Supply Chain, which are essential to compete in the market and attract new business.
Without making the changes we need, we simply cannot afford a consolidated pay rise as this would increase our costs. That’s why I believe it is in everyone’s interest to work together on delivering the savings we need."
It seems to me that both sides are poles apart!!!!!!!

Does Keith Rann take home more than the Prime Minister?

Asda workers have got 4.5%. Supply Chain drivers are also in the retail sector.

No Post Office workers should take a pay cut so the Post Office can break even before March 2015 to allow this Government to claim Royal Mail privatisation did not cost the tax payer.

Everyone knows the Post Office Network the owners (the public) wants could have been paid for by Royal Mail profits if the Post Office was not separated. Vulnerable Post Office users have suffered and will suffer more if the CWU agrees to help the Post Office break even.

All Post Office employees should receive as a minimum the dignity wage which is about £12.60 an hour basic. Keep fighting until you get it.

Don't listen to any slimy bastards who tell you you are not worth s**t. f**k them all.

It's not frustrating its just a joke now.
This week it will be 9 months since we were dragged out on strike, at the time we all knew it wasn't for us but the cwu insisted the strike was about our pay too.
Months later we were informed the crown pay had been sorted and our seperate pay talks were "diffficult".
The managers have been offered a reasonable pay deal now but this whole thing has taken far too long.
The union have not been pro active enough in my opinion.

Admin & Supply Chain pay deadlock

http://www.cwu.org/news/archive/admin-a ... dlock.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Pay negotiations for Post Office Admin and Supply Chain members, which have continued throughout the summer period, have been described as "disappointing" by CWU assistant secretary Andy Furey.

"We're extremely disappointed that these negotiations have dragged on for several months and still there is not an acceptable offer on the table from the business." Andy Furey, CWU national officer

Andy explained that the company's latest offer of a 1 per cent consolidated increase to basic pay for members on the Admin grades has been rejected. "Insultingly, it even falls significantly short of the offer made to Supply Chain members," h said.
And, although the offer tabled for the Supply Chain grade has been slightly increased from 1.5 per cent to 2 per cent, this still "falls significantly short of our aspirations and has consequently been rejected by the negotiating team," he added.

Andy Furey Speaking this morning, Andy said: "We're extremely disappointed that these negotiations have now dragged on for several months and still there is not an acceptable offer on the table from the business. It's not an issue of affordability - they recently declared their best-ever profits.
"We will be discussing among ourselves in the next two weeks, what steps can be taken to resolve this matter on behalf of our members, who deserve a fair pay rise for their hard work and dedication as soon as possible."

Andy will be taking the matter up with the union's postal executive next week, and a meeting of Supply Chain depot representatives is planned for the week after.

Letter to Branches

No: 545/14
Ref: 601
Date: 28th August 2014

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

Post Office: Admin & Supply Chain Pay Negotiations 1st April 2014

Branches and members are advised that negotiations have continued throughout the summer with regards to Admin and Supply Chain pay. Whist some progress has been made, disappointingly, the current position falls significantly short of our aspirations.

The current pay offer for Admin and Supply Chain is as follows:

Admin Members

1% consolidated increase to basic pay from 1st April 2014, self-funded through cost savings already in place and by consolidating an element of the Human Resources Service Centre Bonus Scheme.

Supply Chain Members

2% consolidated increase to basic pay from 1st April 2014 (marginally revised upwards from the previous offer of 1.5%) for all grades including Postal Officers and Postal Assistants designated as Supply Chain.

The 2% flows through to some allowances such as London Weighting, although it does not flow through to the CViT skills allowance (for servicing ATMs, using CAT VIII’s in single person mode and for driving LGVs) and the Defined Area Supplements.

A one-off £200 lump sum payment (pro-rata for part-timers) for all grades (claimed by the Post Office to be worth the equivalent to 0.5% of base pay) linked to the implementation of business change that entails considerable savings and changes to CViT duties. In essence, this is a cost reduction programme with major job losses.

The offer above for both Admin and Supply Chain members falls significantly short of our aspirations and has consequently been rejected by the negotiating team.

Next Steps

A document will be placed before the Postal Executive on Tuesday 2nd September. Following this, a further communication will be published.

CViT Representatives Briefing

As a consequence of the proposal for major changes to jobs and working arrangements for our CViT members, a national briefing specifically for CViT Representatives will take place on Wednesday 10th September at CWU Headquarters from 11am – 2pm.

Post Office Communications

The Post Office late yesterday published separate communications to our Admin and Supply Chain members. These documents are attached to this LTB for your information.

Further developments will be reported following the Postal Executive meeting.

If you have any questions in relation to this LTB, please contact Lea Sheridan - lsheridan@cwu.org.

Yours sincerely,

Andy Furey
Assistant Secretary

The 2% offer has to be thrown straight back at the post office.
The last deal included a 3 year bonus deal which has now run out. The 2% deal mentions nothing of any bonus meaning without the bonus a 2% deal would mean an actual pay reduction rather than a rise. Are these people for real ? I can only assume now that either a better deal needs to be on the table or we have to take further action.

The latest from P.O says any rise will have to be self funding. Was the managers pay rise self funded?
