Post Office bosses have told CWU pay negotiators that they will be putting forward a pay offer for Admin and Supply Chain workers when the two sides meet for talks on Wednesday.
0In a message to branches today, CWU national officer Andy Furey said that he had "urged the Post Office to make a realistic offer so that agreement can be reached before the end of July."
The 2014/15 pay settlement for Admin and Supply Chain grades was due to have been resolved back in April and the union has expressed its "disappointment" at the slow progress from the management side.
Andy Furey, CWU national officer wrote:"It follows that as our members are delivering financial benefits to the Post Office, they, in turn, should receive improvements to pay"
"Much dialogue in relation to this area took place during the Crown negotiations last December and earlier this year and we have urged the Post Office to accelerate these talks," Andy continued, adding: "It is hoped that their offer will not be linked to unreasonable conditions and that our members can receive their just rewards without further delay."
The CWU negotiating team will, he continued, insist to the company that there should be no affordability issues such as those which plagued the Crown pay negotiations and that the union's key objective is to reach a "fair and equitable" one-year pay agreement with "no 'strings" attached.
Andy concluded: "Our Admin and Supply Chain members deserve to share in the recent successes demonstrated by a significant number of new contracts being absorbed into the Supply Chain operation. These contracts bring with them additional revenue to the Post Office. It follows that as our members are delivering financial benefits to the Post Office, they, in turn, should receive improvements to pay."
Further meetings are scheduled for next week and further information will follow in due course.
