Your item has been received at our international mail centre

Post by presidenten »

So, I have ordered some stuff from the UK and the package has now been stuck at Heathrow for some time. I live in Sweden, so there should not be any customs or anything. What is going on?
Why dont they just put my package on a plane and send it to Sweden?

Is there any lithium ion battery in the item and is the battery installed in the goggles or packed separately within the item?

Yes. There is a 1000mah lipo battery and a small lipo charger included with the google.

Edit: Just saw the part 2 question. Judging from unboxing videos, the battery is packed into the same box as the goggles, but they are not installed into the goggles. But there is just one box.

in that case depending on how it was packed the whole package may be sent for destruction, not allowed to send loose batteries by air, they will probably send it to the national returns centre in belfast to be checked and they will either dispose of whole parcel or just remove the offending item and then either send that on or return it to sender

Very unlikely. Then they would also have to torch all cell phones and laptops and such that come with a battery that is not allready installed. :-)

It is still inside a factory sealed container.

So, just pretend it is an Samsung galaxy S4 or some phone that comes with a battery that is not installed in the phone, but is included in the box from the factory ... that is stuck at Heathrow. How long are the parcels usually held there?

Edit: And is there anything I can do to make it go faster so I may get my packages before the weekend? Heathrow is like 2hrs away from Stockholm by air.

Err just so you know, they are doing that, hence why bigger companies like amazon are now affixing do not fly labels to such items

A few days then sent to Belfast for handling as described above

Absolutely nothing you can do to speed it up

Wow. Those are hard rules. And understandable as damaged batteries may catch fire.

But it seems like they are targeting people selling batteries and not trying to limit sales on electronic devices. It would seem very weird that they would open a factory sealed electronic device that is packaged with a battery, just because the battery is not preinstalled. Especially when buying from a licensed retailer. They would loose alot of money if all companies had to stop using Royal Mail. Not to mention all the customer complains. Imagine buing a brand new Nokia from some internet store and someone has opened the package to steal your battery, just beacuse it does not come premounted like in iphones.

It is happening all the time now, same with perfumes, hence the first question that we asked was what was being sent and if it contained a battery, as we know from experience these items are being stopped from being sent, also it's not that Royal Mail don't want to ship these items, it's new air transport regulations that came in at the start of year that prohibited them, hence why amazon and mobile phone suppliers that do use Royal Mail are now including big stickers on their items to stop the from being flown
