Hi
I've just signed up for Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail 48 business service as my new side business is starting to pick up and I'm selling between 30 - 50 items each weeks. Most of the packets that I send out are either LARGE LETTER or SMALL PARCEL and on average I would say 90% can be posted through a standard RM post box which is great as it means avoiding the Post Office.
However the agent told me that if I move to Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail 48 I can't post these into a Post Box, everything must be dropped off at a Post Office. Is this true?
Post Boxes are so convenient for me at the moment as I work a normal 9-5 job..
Many thanks

Yes its true - you have to have a sales order with them when you send. 1 for each day or batch. You Can't put those into a Post Box, and if you did it could cost a fair amount.

Ahh thanks mate. The sales person didn't explain that I needed a sales order with them. Generally do people using this service simply drop off their parcels without having to queue up? Or do I have to wait in line...

Depends entirely on the Postmaster/PostMistress at the PO, if its a local village one or in a part away from the centre of town then strike up a friendship with them, bottles of wine and chocolates at Christmas etc, and they may be willing to let you drop them off and they'll process them during a quiet time. My own local PO does that and it works well. It will be a UNOFFICIAL arrangement though so don't upset them. Word of warning these are called PPI accounts and not all POs will accept them so try not to let volumes pile up.mrpugster wrote:Ahh thanks mate. Re: Royal Mail 24 and 48 and Post Boxes
Thanks TBT
I figured it may be something like this - keeping the postmaster sweet..May be tricky with my local, not the most friendly chap
but worth shot.
Would be nice if RM could introduce a drop-off box for this kind of thing, I'm guessing there's plenty of reasons why they don't do it.
Many thanks for fast response
