When i went into the RLE the power was already off and the new scanners were both completely dead, so i don't know if there was an error message or anything.

The power was still off when i finished and went home.
The next morning they were both back up and running as normal.
Sounds like possibly the power has been off a lot and so they've not charged up

You're main RLE locker person will also use them to receive the bags that have come from your local MC and to scan out things that are being returned to the MC (rts specials)

Not sure why they aren't charging - had a quick look at them today and seem ok.
I can usually use just the one scanner to receive everything each morning - up to 350 Sd's without needing to charge.

For the moment i am the main RLE duty holder - despite now doing a 90 minute delivery as well as everything i used to do. With summer resourcing starting soon who knows what i'll be doing next week.
Only been in the job 10 years, RLE for 3 years.

Still can't turn down the volume of the fecking beep when you scan an item either :-(

The power used for two scans (provided the number of items ties up with the number on the dun) would be so tiny. Is the mains plug socket the cradle is plugged into on any sort of timer?

Has a manager rung IT to enquire about any software updates for that?

No no timer on the socket.
I will have a better look at them when i get the time - unfortunately as you can imagine every morning is hectic until deliveries start going out.
I then have to bag up my delivery and go and do it. When i get back it's my meal relief and then i'm booking items back in. I have to book items back in from the callers office due to the DOM having an issue with security after an item went missing between me scanning it back in, allocating it to callers and then nobody could find it in the callers when the customer came in to collect. Not the first or last item to get lost or misplaced, but scanning stuff back in while in the callers is a nightmare.
Then it's time to go home,
So not much time left to chase batteries that don't seem to charge or IT with regard the BEEP.

Thought I'd reply regarding the annoying 'beep' these things make.
I phoned IT who laughed and said everyone is complaining about that but there is NO WAY of turning it down.

After moaning to my DOM , she suggested I place a tiny piece of Sellotape over the speaker ( underneath ) and this works a treat.
Our guns now make a gentle beep and is much easier on the ear, try it...... it does work.
