No risk, or rather very little risk. Mainly because our manager recommended it in a WTL session after getting complaints from pre-prepped duties of items arriving damaged and not in bag. Also having damage bags in your pouch for items damaged whilst on delivery seems reasonable to me, and I would hope the IB doing a bag check as part of a patrol.

Now if someone on my delivery was complaining about damaged items arriving, or indeed any delivery, then the investigating officer would need more proof than the say so of a customer, and "evidence" of damage bags to take it any further. They need reasonable proof that it was you who damaged the item on purpose for criminal reasons, the only way they can do that is to have some way of tracking the item (RFID, marked mail etc) and finding direct corroborative evidence on your person, your belongings or places you have access to.
sorry but what is an IB ?

Royal Mail are moving away from this idea due to their resourcing to demand plan and double/triple prepping.
It is more efficient in their eyes to have a prepper doing the "unskilled" part of the prep work (D2D and sequenced) on two or three deliveries than faffing about with a blank look on their face with the manual mail so the idea is that the D2D is prepped first, then sequenced, then the manual by the duty holder.
Spot on! And it makes perfect sense.

The time difference some people talk about in terms of an empty frame is minimal. Moreover, the mail do not always arrive in such a way to prep mech, loose, flats and D2Ds... Anyone prepping d2d last must probably be on an easy round or not in P&L because the prospect of prepping 6 d2ds on a 500+ round after every other pieces of mail will cause a massive delay in finishing.

Anyway, D2Ds are done for the 20+ hours posties so there is really no choice for the double prepper or even the 20+ hour postie. And I think d2d first ensures that they are done as they can easily be monitored and verified.

How to do things should be left to management!

I see your point, but I am going to bring it up at a WTL session to see what our manager says,if they say the same as yours,I will do it,if as I suspect they avoid giving a straight answer for fear of committing themselves I shall carry on as normal, persec permitting I shall put my answer up on here.

Or they (the IB) could just lie. It's far easier and they get their figures up.

1/6 of the round being prepped but the delivery depends on what loops being done on both walks.

It is possible that one of the posties in a P&L do more d2ds depending on the loops they normally do... But it will most likely even out over 10 rounds and by the end of the week, I think.

The amount of revenue which D2D brings in less the cost to process them through the system till they are delivered gives us profit. Whats wrong with asking for a " very detailed PDF file explaining how to sort D2D into the frame" it may of been designed wrongly, therefore the cost element is wrong at that stage of the process. Who should carry that extra burden of cost, RM or employee being bullied to come in early to cover that time for free,

The idea of preparing D2D last is so live mail cannot be accidentally inserted into a folded D2D item, and subsequently left because you can't see it.

I wish I could look at the file from Watchdog that states the biggest bugbear/ complaints from the public is the amount of D2D-Junk-mail we deliver.
