Hi all,
I'm a student who will be writing a report on the Royal Mail and how it deals with Gender Equality. Mainly I'll be focusing on women and what Royal Mail does to ensure they are treated the same as men. I've found a few pieces of information on their website for example this: http://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2014/04 ... yers-women" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. And the Equality and Diversity Statement etc.
However I was wondering if any you guys could point me in the right direction of any more information or any recent cases that have been in the news I should be aware of or any documents you could share (obviously if their for internal use only then don't upload them - don't want anyone to get into trouble!!!). I'd also be interested in your own opinions for example if you feel you're treated all the same or is there a divide between men and women for example is pay the same or do you feel feel men/women receive better treatment etc.
Thanks,
ConfusedStudent

That statement alone hints at an inequality/bias in the focus of your report.ConfusedStudent wrote:Mainly I'll be focusing on women and what Royal Mail does to ensure they are treated the same as men.
There is a great deal of difference between a report and an investigation, my suggestion is that you do not fall into an investigative journalism role and report only the official facts from official sources.
To add to what you've already learned from the document and web page you mentioned all Communication Workers Union Representatives have mandatory equality/diversity training and there have recently been a series of joint, RM/CWU dignity and respect workshops throughout the organisation too.

In my office it's a joke, all the women get all the easy work like phg or just driving a van and doing a few parcels. More like equality for men is why we need
