Why are people deliberately trying to cause an argument over a relatively simple thing designed to protect posties from violence and intimidation and allow them the opportunity to also protect their own principles.

Royal Mail has a duty to deliver all election material, that's fair enough. Individual members have the right to opt out of that process whether it's right wing drivel or left wing bollocks but it will still be delivered protecting your precious "democratic process".
Only a complete tosspot would see anything wrong in that. :cuppa

Fish its lack of guidance which causes confusion. As the other guy said his office has not even got a rep so they are going to get ripped off. Our dom has been coming to me to ask for guidelines for delivery spans :d'oh! His had the same or more emails than me over the election material but cant be asked to read them. Hence we got 6p for the postal vote letters. :whistle

Well safety for one. Imagine having to deliver BNP material to a heavy ethnic populated area. Your asking for trouble and conflict which could result in a assault on the postman.

Freedom of thought, conscience or ideas.

Not much difference between delivering UKIP leaflets and sorting next to a UKIP supporter.

Labour - Left wing :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: Ohh thats a good one. So left wing they wanted to part privatise Royal Mail, so left wing they never rescinded any major anti union laws, so left wing they invaded another country without UN approval, so left wing they closed 2,500 Post Offices so left wing the accepted a donation from the multi billionaire Bernie Ecclestone. so left wing that the iconic figure of Tony Blair supports an autocratic monarchy that does not allow freedom of speech or any form of dissention. Still if you think they are left wing you are entitled to your opinion but mine is that they are just a paler version of the Tories.
Up the workers, George Galloway for president. Im told Cuba is lovely this time of year.
Wrong type of left wingers. Your politics appear very one-dimensional Dumpy, almost DMesque.

I'm not sure it even reaches the dizzy heights of the Daily Mail.
It's more Daily Express.

None.
Personal safety of the postie is a valid point, but to suggest that " freedom of thought conscience or ideas" somehow pertains to Ukip leaflets and a postie's job is just crass.
What's the next step, a hard-line unionised office deciding that Tory propaganda won't be delivered, or a bunch of Right-leaning posties leaving the local Labour candidate's leaflets in the office?
Pathetic.

Realistically there is very little chance of anyone confronting a postie over a leaflet they take offence to, certainly no more than when we deliver late or damaged parcels/cards or leave gates open/walk across gardens etc.

This thread looks to me as though some people don't want to deliver certain parties leaflets because of their own political views, not because of safety, and that's not a valid reason for refusing to take them.

However if as a result of personal circumstances or beliefs an individual requests alternative arrangements we will respond sympathetically.

:Applause :Applause :Applause

People are much more likely to get p!ssed-off with:

6 door-dustbins dropping on their doormat and no mail when expecting something.
Grey revenue cards being posted to them.
Bent/damaged letters.
Not shutting the gate.
Lawn-walking.
P739's when they were 'in all along'...
A different postman each day who has no experience of their particular delivery foibles regarding 'under the garage door' or 'in mum's greenhouse' etc.
Making their hysterical mongrels bark.

Given that I was living in France for most of the 90s I don't really know what you are on about.
The figures for net immigration seem fairly stable until about 1999.
Certainly the figures for net immigration are significantly higher now.

Given that I am not a Labour voter and I don't really know (or care) what you are going on about I haven't been able/bothered to formulate any response.
