*You* aren't helping the posties' cause.

But then again I don't think that *you* give a s**t, do you?

I take one step forward in appreciating the posties cause, then take one step back when I read your posts.

I'm sorry for your troubles but we aren't losing wages for nothing. It's not a game and we would all rather be at work. It is NOT our choice.
Well I hope you get your own way then.

Unless that means you knock off when you are finished with a round but expect to get paid for a full shift, pull 25k pa and refuse to be at all flexible.
M8 i'm lucky to pull in 17k per year and they only day i knock of early is a tuesday and thats down to the way the processing works and then it's only 25 mins or so you believe these papers about our wages, trust me if we were on that amount of money we wouldn't be so bothered about a pay rise, i would have to pull in 14 hour shifts every day to make that kind of money, you business people are all me me me, well go on set up an account with someone else, and watch their price's rocket
I don't want to use another service, I have used them in the past and they are s**t which is why I use RM, I have a lot of time for all the RM workers I deal with day to day but I am looking at serious damage to my business which already has a shitload of other factors threatening it.
Not getting my mail at home is an inconvenience. Not getting my business post sent/recieved is a complete fuckup. Whether I sympathise or not is not the issue, at this rate it will not matter, cos I will have no business.
First of all, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise for the problems that our Industrial Action is causing you, and all our other Customers.

Secondly, it is important that you realise, that the press (at the behest of Leighton and Crozier), are giving a seriously distorted view of what is happening. As far as people finishing early is concerned. We are talking 1 hour max, per shift. There have been isolated incidents of people finishing earlier than that. But it has been due to exceptional circumstances.

One example, was when there was an unusually large quantity of 1st class mail, and we couldn't get enough Agency Staff to properly staff for it. So an arrangement was made between Management and Processing Staff, to work through their first break, and delay their dinner break, so that the Mail could be loaded onto the trailers, in time to get it delivered by the morning. As a reward, the Processing Staff (and ONLY the Processing Staff) were allowed to finish much earlier than normal. The rest of us, completed our Shifts as normal. More importantly, that was one day so far this year!

I don't know what (if any) similar arrangements have happened in the Delivery Offices (I work in a Regional Distribution Centre (RDC)), but to put things into context. My local Postie RUNS round his deliveries at an impressive speed, carrying a heavy Post Bag, and uses his own car to carry the rest. So IF, he manages to finish early. HE DESERVES TO. Although frankly, I doubt that it is doing his health much good, going at that speed.

As to the frankly LUDICROUS reports about our wages. They aren't even CLOSE to the truth. I take home £313.69, including 8 hours overtime, Driving Allowance and Shift Allowance (for working unsociable hours). That is the only way for us to match the wages you are being told that we ALL get. Most people don't do this overtime, and not everyone gets the Shift or Driving allowances. The basic wage, is £16,921.84pa.

The overtime, is due to the fact that they really need EXTRA Staff at the RDCs, not less. There is a need for a few part time duties overlapping the main shifts. But they still reduce our staffing levels.

Far more importantly. The wages are only ONE of many problems that we are trying to solve. There are more important ones, such as the later start times and reductions in Staff. Which will result in deliveries happening late into the afternoon for some people. This will also effect all of our competitors, as we actually deliver the mail for them. They only process it.

They intend to gradually errode ALL aspects of the Universal Delivery Service , which we simply WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO DO!

Don't you come on here implying we're terrorists for standing up for what is right. Whingers like you are the whole problem with modern society. You sit there taking in all the crap the authorities throw at you and your response? Coming on here crying because your mail is late. Try to develop a view of what is happening around you because the only person you seem to give a s**t about is you.

I just wanted to add my opinion to the mix.

I'm not a postwoman, I work at one of the MDEC's (for those of you who don't know much about MDEC's it's Manual Data Entry Centre and basically means if the machine can't read a letter then I tell the letter where it's supposed to go).

Like many people who work in the company it's not just me striking, but my boyfriend as well. As if it's not bad enough losing one wage, we're losing two - which is not good with interest rates going up so our mortgage is more expensive, before I even start to take into account things like keeping my car on the road (which I need to get to work) as well as debts that a lot of people have - like credit cards and overdrafts.

But the point is that even though I'm losing money I refuse to accept the conditions that they want us to accept. It's pointless me repeating all of the things that everyone else has said, except to say that I agree with all the points everyone else has made.

So there.

I never said posties earned it, I heard that one of the gripes was that you are earning less than the apparent 25k national average.

Is part of the agenda to get those most affected by the strikes to help fight the posties corner?

That's pretty clever.

LOOK MATE..... IM NOT AND NEVER ASK FAVOURS"!"

Im telling u THIS ISNT ABOUT POSTIES AGAINST THE SMALL BUSINESS .... THis is about saving a service for all......

Not just my job... not anyones alone.... Im talking about no agenda with anything i post on here or anywhere APART FROM .... THIS IS AN ATTACK ON EVERYONE WHO USES RM..... EVERYONE... ME, U, YOUR CUSTOMERS, MY CUSTOMERS, FOR THE GREATER GOOD IN THE LONG TERM....

If you think we are all on here just to spout propaganda of a UNION going mad on 70s ideals then your a fool..... Billy Hayes and Dave Ward might not have all the posties backing on EVERYTHING... But they have a 77% backing for strike action...

DEMOCRATIC......

We are trying to make the public see another side of the coin... Even if it makes us sound militant....? I dont care.... ITS THE TRUTH AND SOMETHING RM WILL TRY SHUT US UP WITH OUR OFFICAL SECRETS ACT.... They will try and shut us up.... FACT... They are scared of us saying everything we know but we have to be careful..... The media are backed and run by big business run by Big alan LIEGHTON & hi mates...

GO FIGURE... The media and goverment and postcomm are all down on the posties.....

Look how they tried to shame the firebrigade When they went out on strike....... They said liable things about us and them.....

They have no morals in my opinion.... They spoon feed the public.... So before you slag us find out the facts... Go and knock on the door of your local MP... Write to parliment....... DONT JUST SLING SHITE AT US DEFENDING OUR JOBS, PENSIONS RIGHTS, AND WORKING HEALTH AND SAFETY.... AND THEN THE SERVICE AS WELL FOR ALL....

Don't the CWU get it at all? Royal Mail are not suffering becuase of the strikes. The people who use Royal Mail services are suffering becuase of the strikes.

Listen mate, if it's sympathy you're after, there's this webshite called POSTMANSHAT, you can whinge to your heart's content on there, and
receive a plethora of sympathetic claptrap from a multitude of morons who'll pretend to give a shite.
When googling, remove the "S" from SHAT, and replace with a "C", still amounts to the same thing.
You'll find nobody on here who will surrender to Leighton & Crozier, and in the process of doing so, become instruments of their own demise, and just
so your insignificant little enterprise can flounder at a later date.

You can't really blame him for complaining, when he's been watching/reading the Press. They are making it look like we are achieving nothing, dispite the (incredibly slow) progress that we are making. We need to let the Public know what this is all about, and that we ARE gradually making progress.

I've worked for a Small Business in the past, and when there was a problem with their Health and Safety provisions, I had to resign. I didn't have a Union to help me back then, and I was willing to take my chances finding another job, before I ran out of money. Rather than continue with unsafe working conditions. Not everyone is willing to make such sacrifices.

We need to let people know what is actually at stake here, so that they can make an informed choice about wether to support us or not. Personally, I don't think that there will be many that won't, once they know the truth.

After all, the more people that contact their MPs to ask them to intervene on our behalf. The more chance we have of sorting this out sooner, rather than later. Don't forget: MPs rely on all of us to get Elected. They are more likely to help, if large numbers of potential voters want them to.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: United we stand, divided we fall, if we ALL stick together, we can beat them all!
