How to find out where an item was delivered, ebay query

Hello,
I purchased an item off Ebay which I never received. The seller had initially uploaded a tracking number which only stated that "information on your item is not yet available online. Information on your Royal Mail Signed For™ item is not yet available.".

However, when I raised the non-receipt with the seller, he said to open a dispute with Ebay/paypal and let them deal with it. At this point, he removed the original tracking number. In the "resolution Centre" he then posted a different tracking number, saying the other one was a error. This new tracking number, now said the item had been delivered from RMs "Sydenham Delivery Office" and signed for by "Hugo".

Now, I live in Wandsworth/Southfields, approximately 2 minutes from my local Delivery office and no one near me or in my house hold is called Hugo. How can I find out where this item was delivered to as it was certainly not to my address, but also, why would it come from a delivery office which is 8 miles away and 2-3 boroughs away from me?

The seller is clearly trying to play to Ebays "proof of delivery" clause to get the case in his favour, so I would like to know if it's possible to find out to what address this item was actually delivered to based on the tracking number alone?

As a customer I am afraid its not possible mainly due to the Data Protection Act etc. However, you could advise EBay that the Delivery Office is not your local one, and therefore this is not a valid tracking number. All delivery Offices have specific Post Codes they deliver to and up to date they do not deliver outside those post codes.

If you wanted you could scare the seller and advise them that as you have not received it you have reported the matter as theft to the Royal Mail Security Desk (and you can if you want) due to the inconsistency over the office - that might scare them into refunding you.

they just said they have reported this barcode to royal mail themselves anyway and I can do the same.

just also make sure in the resolution center on ebay you highlight the fact that he changed the reference number and that the original one is showing as undelivered, ebay will have a record of him changing the reference number

It would also appear TrueBlues "threat" did the trick.

However, they are now saying if I leave positive feedback they will refund ASAP. Rather then waiting for them to reclaim off royal mail.

Unsure whether to agree to it, or just wait to escalate and leave negative feedback.

Either way, they clearly have been found out and are now trying to prevent me from "damaging" their image through negative feedback.

email ebay about the refund for positive feedback, ebay dont like that sort of practice to secure your refund

Do not give any positive feedback till you have a refund, make sure they are contacting you via ebay email system for audit trail. When you give them a negative feedback keep within ebay guidelines if not they can get it removed. It may be a genuine error,

This has all been said in the resolution centre, So if/when I escalate it to the Ebay staff, they will see everything that has been written.
