That's funny because we've been told the exact opposite - no matter what it says on the packet never leave it anywhere.Kings Norton wrote:There is a few posties in my office that has the p739 wrote out on their break then it's one knock and in goes the card they don't care as long as they finish early. We watched a video only 12 months ago NOT to put and parcels in wheelie bins now if it states on the tracked packet ( put in blue bin) we have been told carry out that arrangement. Personally I think it's the PHGs don't want anything back in the office as it gives them more time eating and playing games on their phone.

So does that mean I have to go to one farm, then 1 mile up the road to the next farm(you know where I'm going) just to get rid off them? I don't think so.

Don't forget you need to go back to the original farm to drop off the 739 to say where the packet is.....justdeno wrote:So does that mean I have to go to one farm, then 1 mile up the road to the next farm(you know where I'm going) just to get rid off them? I don't think so.
All extra time getting used up in your delivery, which may in the end mean delivery points being taken off your delivery and part timers getting extra hours if you have to cut off all the time,
People need to start doing the job properly and stop rushing about to get finished that little bit earlier, it will save jobs and increase part timers hours in the long run

No 1) You cannot bring mail back once you have left the building with it. Number 2) Dom won't be there to answer the phone their long gone.zx135 wrote:Well there's exactly your problem your not following the correct procedures, you say what you take out you have to deliver, that is not the correct procedure, you don't have to deliver it all, just follow the cutting off procedure and as soon as you realise you won't finish on time, call office and ask for instruction from dom what he wants you to do and inform him that you either are willing to claim ot or are going to cut off and finish on time and bring mail backKings Norton wrote:zx135 wrote:What you take out you have to deliver so if you have 10 tracked items its going to have a knock on effect if most are out. The best bit is if you bring it back to the office there is a sheet in everyone's van and we have to fill in the address, the tracking number, reason why its not delivered and then all the other address's we have tried to deliver it.
Have you ever heard such codswallop in your life? I ain't got time for all that crap.... Oh and our Union man agreed it. Anyone else got to do this crap?
How exactly don't you have time??
Simply follow the correct cutting off procedures and you will still finish on your correct finishing time

We have been told if you have a problem with your work load you have to tell a manager before you go out so he/she will take some off you then you only take out what you can deliver. Now you can only bring mail back if something occurs on your walk (ie) Van break down, accident etc other than that its classed as wilful delay as you took mail out knowing full well you cannot complete.

Re: Tracked Items try harder!
this whole cutting off procedure is ridiculous. some days you never know if your able to get the round done in time or not - especially if you are a floater or reserve and do a different duty each day.
today I cut off for the first time - told my manager there's a chance i might bring some back as i wasn't sure. brought it back then get told i have to put it back in the frame and count what wasnt delivered?
which in turn made me go over my finish time anyway!
biggest load of shite i've ever heard.
it should be obvious some days we wont finish others we will, why we have to tell them everyday is just more time wasted.
sorry for going off topic.

Well that's the wrong procedure, the procedure is to inform dom as soon as you know you won't complete, regardless of inside or out,
Your dom is making things up for an easy life for himself, get your rep to get the correct procedure in place and if he won't go above him

If it takes you 10 minutes to get rid of a parcel knocking on loads of doors rather than 1 minute to write a docket you wont complete your round if you have to keep doing it and then just cut off, whats the problem??

Re: Tracked Items try harder!
Guys!!!
He has already said what the problem is! The cut off procedure is not a national thing - even if there are pieces of paper from the CWU.
You have to follow your office procedure or what might actually be a local agreement.
Informing the manager before going out appears to be the common way of cutting off. Of course, this does is not an exact science: you might end up being under...
Delivering Tracks religiously to neighbours like the other Courier service is not appropriate - others do not also have to deliver letters.
I will not deliver signed for letter or Tracked to a neighbour unless on nstruction was left by recipient or on the tracked item. 'Do not deliver to neighbour' is just 'what it says on the tin'...

Re: Tracked Items try harder!
Your wrong the over running deliveries procedure IS a national agreement, the problem is local reps not ensuring it is enforced correctly thus you then get local doms taking advantage like we have here, chrisj wrote:Guys!!!

Re: Tracked Items try harder!
Tried getting rid of as many parcels as I could for a few weeks but then its the same old people who are in and they soon get pissed off with Mrs Smith who is never in ordering 4 parcels a day and you knocking on the same doors to get rid of parcels.
I have notes on doors asking me not to knock anymore with neighbours parcels

Re: Tracked Items try harder!
Yes we have this bollocks "I will make up the cutting off procedure as I go along" by our sector, and managers in our office.
We are instructed not to bring mail back or we will get done for wilful delay, as all walks are fine (bullshit), and two chaps did get taken down this road recently.
We have also had the "you must try 40 neighbours to get rid of stuff" s**t too. The reason they want you to do this, is because the growth in parcels they forecast is not coming true, and they think that if you deliver more stuff first time, then it will impress customers, and help our parcel growth. No chance, we cant compete with the likes of DPD, and their one hour timed slots, because all they do is deliver mail. We are trying to be too many things that we cant excel at.
I have taken the opposite approach now, I take everything out, try the 40 neighbours, do the job properly and go as slow as possible, so I can rack up the overtime, and I can assure they hate them apples, and eventually something does get done about it.
