Saturday redelivery

Post by japitts »

I had a redelivery of a signed-for parcel arranged for today, half-expected it to come separately to "postie" in a van delivery... upshot was, it didn't turn up but track & trace shows an attempt was made "before 06:53 today and a card was left". No card is present.

Needless to say, we were all asleep at the time and I am rather surprised that deliveries would be attempted so early on a Saturday. Is this normal?!

Normal - No

Seems very early most posties at my place would still be in prepping their rounds, but it might have been someone doing packets only.

And shouldn't deliveries only start at 7am ? :shock:

Thanks for the replies.

I now have screenshots of the "track & trace" site showing "before 06:53" and a printoff of http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/ ... pdf_02.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'll log a complaint via CS on Monday morning, and take the printoff into the collection office and politely query it.. I don't want to make too big a deal out of it, our service is very good on the whole... but it seems there may be a rogue out there!

Can you try the tracking number on http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (it gives more details then the normal tracking page) and post the output?

To me that looks like no delivery attempt was made - for some strange reason after scanning it into the Collection Office on the 3rd April, they rescanned it again on the 5th. If delivery had been attempted you should have got the same scan as at 14:01. Its possible that for some reason the redeliveries were cancelled on Saturday and they rescanned them back in but still its a strange one.

why would there be a rogue out there it looks like they have just forgot to put it out from the callers office or someone has cut off and not realised they had a redelivery item

The redelivery was arranged online on Thursday afternoon, and I've got the email confirming Saturday morning, I've used this facility several times previously no problem. It's the track & trace page that says "delivery was attempted before 06:53 and a card was left".

I agree that "it wasn't put out for delivery" is the most likely explanation at the moment, but this is the output from http://www.royalmail.com/track-trace" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We have tried to deliver your item from our XXX Delivery Office before 06:53 on 05/04/14 and we have left a while you were out card.

So either it wasn't put out for delivery...in which case why not? Or an attempt was made at 06:53.... in which case why? Guess it's only local staff in the DO can answer this. Glad to provoke some useful responses though... thanks :-)
