40*5*45 = 9000 minutes per year (45 is 52 weeks less 6 weeks holiday and 1 week Bank Holidays) = 150 hours. or for a FTimer nearly 4 weeks a year.
Coming in early by 40 minutes early a day is the equivalent of not taking over half your annual leave. But I won't condemn people for doing it, education is better than condemnation.

Many do this in our office to finish earlier. RM still allows staff to go home before the end of their duty time. So until RM clamp down on this in every office, it shall carry on!

a little anonymous email to moya complaining about having to claim overtime to complete lapsing whilst other staff members are leaving the office before their contracted finish time, thus not utilising all available hours and the office incurring OT as a result will soon resolve that situationNewUnitRep wrote:Many do this in our office to finish earlier. Some people are genuinely making a bit of time, good luck to them.
This is down to poor management, so its up to them to address, not me.

those hours that are being saved could be going to part timers to increase their contracts, thus you would be looking after your members interestsNewUnitRep wrote:Why?zx135 wrote:a little anonymous email to moya complaining about having to claim overtime to complete lapsing whilst other staff members are leaving the office before their contracted finish time, thus not utilising all available hours and the office incurring OT as a result will soon resolve that situationNewUnitRep wrote:Many do this in our office to finish earlier. Spot on.spiderj wrote:Many reasons
1.they are afraid for their job
2.they can't cope with the workload so compensate by coming in early
3.they are being bullied into it by managers/colleagues
4.they haven't read a certain book about folk with ragged trousers and don't understand where their work ethic leads
5.lastly they might just be as mad as toast.
If you do a job too well, you’ll get stuck with it.

they should still be working all their hours they have not "made extra time" they should still be working up to the end of their contracted hoursNewUnitRep wrote:But what of those that are genuinely making more than they give?zx135 wrote:those hours that are being saved could be going to part timers to increase their contracts, thus you would be looking after your members interestsNewUnitRep wrote:Why?zx135 wrote:a little anonymous email to moya complaining about having to claim overtime to complete lapsing whilst other staff members are leaving the office before their contracted finish time, thus not utilising all available hours and the office incurring OT as a result will soon resolve that situationNewUnitRep wrote:Many do this in our office to finish earlier. Re: WHY ARE PEOPLE WORKING FOR NOTHING ?
Because we have a national agreement that says "work all your paid hours".NewUnitRep wrote:[

If the agreement is undermined, the union is undermined.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

And its always the ones that come in early and run like mad to get home are the same ones who moan because their round is too big, why we are always lapsing, and why we dont have enough staff... and then blame it all on the union.

Why would someone want £1600 when by not booking overtime they can add 0.00000000000001p to their share dividend!!!
