I think after reading troubles' original post unless I am picking it up wrong there is no mention of how many hours those involved work or that they are getting paid or claiming carers allowance. Surely someone can be classified as a carer without getting paid or claiming carers allowance and are still subject to the same rights or it would be discrimination.

Yes that is the impression I got too. Maybe I picked up on your earlier comments wrong as I took it you were saying that if you work full time then you are unable to be a carer.

If you are a carer for a person with a disability, then you have the same rights and protections as if you were the disabled person yourself.
Failure to provide reasonable adjustments is disability discrimination.
