" being progressed through our network for delivery"

Post by aseller »

Hello everyone

I hope I am on the right board.

I have a couple of nagging questions, that is seriously affecting my business. I am hoping to get some insight into how Royal Mail works through some responses from others who have had similar experience.

I am a business seller on Amazon. I send everything recorded, even if it costs only less than £10, due to increasing number of non receipt claims that other sellers talk about. However I have noticed that several of my recorded delivery items (at least 1 in 10) show up as " being progressed through our network for delivery." even after several weeks although they would have received it. This is the same case when a redelivery is arranged or a note has been left for the receipient for collection. The tracking does not update that the recepient has collected it.

Now I really wouldn't have minded what the tracking says so long as no one is complaining about non receipt of their parcels.

However I am facing a huge problem with these recorded delivery tracking not updated because even if the receipient has received the item, we are left open to risks of claims of non receipt.

So one of my questions: Why are recorded delivery tracking often not updated? Wouldn't these problem of not updating the tracking open up claims against Royal mail?
The other question is: Who is responsible for updating these tracking? The reason I am asking is, I would like to ascertain if I can actually check it out with a local delivery office or anywhere else if a parcel has been delivered but the tracking not updated. I might be able to request them to update it and avoid an amazon claim against me? Would that be possible?
At the moment, I am facing a claim of non receipt of a parcel and the tracking says "
We have your item

Item KF593116705GB was posted at 44 Towngate BD21 3NL on 01/02/14 and is being progressed through our network for delivery." I can see that I am going to lose money :'(

I would be very grateful if you could give me some insight into why tracking is not updated despite us paying for recorded delivery services.

Your not paying for tracking, your paying for a signature on delivery, and a scan after delivery has failed, if no signature, either postie has delivered it with no signature or the old style paper signature is still being used in that office and signature may take 10 days to appear (though it should show as being delivered by next day)

There is a more detailed tracking site that Royal Mail don't advertise and it shows different statuses and a full history http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. However it doesn't show any more details for the track code you posted.

I good thing is that if you keep a record, and receipts for all your recorded items, if no signature is obtained, or the tracking isn't updated when its delivered/vollected - then you can claim back the extra cost of paying for recorded.

Thank you. I think it is lost. But I have had instances where folks have received their items and it still showed "progressing through the network" for months. It is a bit worrying that the postmen don't enter the system with delivery updates. I am always anxious when I see this message and wonder if the buyer's claim is genuine.

I will save all the posting details and receipts. Thanks again.
