returned to sender
I wonder if anyone could help me shed some light have tried customer services and they were not overly helpful. I sent two parcels via special delivery on the 20th December the smaller parcel was received but the larger one was redirected to the checking centre now I understand that they have procedures to follow that's fine but when i sent the parcel i checked that it met the restricted and prohibited item criteria so anyway i phoned customer services and they said they had no more info than i did this was the first week of Jan they told me to wait a week which i have done. So i find that the parcel has still not made it to my recipient a bit frustrating they were Xmas pressies so phoned customer services again on Saturday and it is being returned to me which would be fine but they do not know the reason and it was meant to get to me on the 10th so ive been told to wait another week this is a month now since i originally sent the parcel i just wondered if anyone could explain to me the procedures i have looked at terms and condition and spoke to customer services extremely frustrated sorry that this is long winded.

Re: returned to sender
On my detail it says that they believed the item had prohibited content so sent it to be examined and that's what it still says on there now but when i spoke to customer service they said it had now been sent to returns centre and that parcel should have been delivered Friday 10th and to give it another week but on my tracking should it not say that as well but also the lady said that usually when they return an item they will put the reason but there's not one so im confused as to why its not being sent to my recipient.

It would look different to what you have posted above, although this is helpful.
What was in the packet in question?

Re: returned to sender
If the packet contained any aerosols then it needed special handling. You are not allowed to send more than 2 aerosols per packet or any aerosols that are bigger than 500ml per can or any aerosols with certain specific contents (e.g. paint). It sounds like your parcel did not fall foul of these rules. However, if you send any aerosols at all, even within these rules, you have to declare so at the point of sending. Basically, the clerk at the Post Office has to apply a restricted items label to the parcel so that RM would know to treat it differently. If that didn't happen then I guess that Royal Mail will have to divert it: see other threads on here about items classed as dangerous goods.
