Is my parcel lost? Still says "accepted at POL"

Post by smem »

Hi

I posted an item out on Saturday 21st December. My status on the website of the company I sent it too still indicates they haven't received it. Their offices were closed from the 23rd December - 1st Jan for Christmas and any deliveries that were attempted during this time were delivered yesterday morning. The lady on the phone yesterday morning said they were working through the backlog of deliveries and I should receive an email soon.

What is worrying me though, is when I look at my tracking information it still only says "accepted at pol" and that's it! As far as I can tell it's been tracked no where else.

My tracking number is XB474644468GB

Did you send it special delivery or signed for?

Pretty sure 'XB' is mail order returns using a pre-paid label?

Is this something you are returning after a mail-order purchase? Something you bought online perhaps?

Was it a catalogue return?
If so it may have been initially missorted. We've had a couple that have been attempted to be delivered back to the sender before their true destination was realised.
It may be worth checking at your local delivery office to see if they are holding an item for you.

Also the receiving company may have a large number of parcels to process.

Agreed - but either way it is the company's responsibility to rectify in the event of a lost parcel when this service is used (I worked for a number of years in online retail). You as the sender cannot raise a claim (P58) for a Home Shop Return - this has to come from the company that issued the label.

As others have said, it is highly likely that with both the irregular deliveries and increased demand on the postal network over Christmas, coupled with the company's own probable backlogs, that this is just a delay. I would expect your item to be received very shortly.

Yeah it was a Royal Mail prepaid label. It's not a return. It's a phone recycling company. I sent my iPhone to them and this is why I'm worried. It seems that it's just disappeared since I left it at the post office as there's no tracking info since then. It's only being sent within London aswell so surely it shouldn't take this long?! I don't know who to call within Royal Mail to try and find out where it is.

If you paid for the postage yourself, and sent it recorded delivery. It won't be tracked till it is actually delivered/or delivery attempted.

your item is getting sent back on a mail order returns service, depending on the level of service the company has purchased it may or may not be a tracked service, in this case it appears its not a tracked service thats been purchased,

the system will probably not update after delivery has been made, sorry but you will need to wait for the company to get through their backlog and there is no one to call apart from the company to check on the item

if it does not turn up within 15 days then you need to get the company to resolve the issue due to they being the ones who are paying for the service

Surprised that company has not provided Special Delivery for an iPhone...still it will be their loss as it will be them to resolve if lost.

But it wasn't sent recorded - it was sent by a Mail order returned packets stream http://www.royalmail.com/parcel-despatc ... ed-returns" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. This was made clear earlier in the thread.

So despite your deleted posts (I have advised you why) in this case it appears you were giving out incorrect information.
